The 3rd collaboration of prolific cellist Sara Oswald and electronic musician Feldermelder evokes captivating sensations that oscillate between impending doom and hope. The albums’ sonic journey is highly immersive, transporting the listener from one cerebral landscape to another. The transformative nature of metallic elements being integrated in sustained orchestral tones weaves the sonic tapestry, resulting in a captivating experience for the listeners. The organic sounding — reminiscent of minerals’ timbres — brings a touch of brightness and a distinctive edge, while the orchestral harmonic structures lend a sense of grandeur and continuity. The origins of this music remain enigmatic, while the tracks of the album gradually unveil concealed aspects and the hidden truth.

Trained in baroque cello and advocating improvised music, Sara Oswald is the perfect match for sound artist and electronic musician Feldermelder. She plays solo, composes for film and theatre and collaborates with musicians like The Young Gods, Pascal Auberson, Sophie Hunger and Julian Sartorius. Feldermelder is a polymathic creative whose artistry spans composition, sound design, installation and code. He is co-founders of -OUS and part of Encor.studio, a collective of artists who specialise in creating immersive audio-visual installations. Through his work, he explores the idea of secrecy and its impact on our lives, using music and sound to create a thought-provoking and immersive experience for his audience.

Satin Made of Triggers - Hummings is the result of collaboration between Antonina Nowacka, Teoniki Rożynek, Mila Nowacka, Kamil Szuszkiewicz, and Sebastian Buczek (Altanova Press). In 2018, Kamil, Antonina and Teoniki took up the subject of the ASMR phenomenon (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) as part of the Unsound festival during SMOT concerts at the Alchemia club in Krakow. A year later, an idea arose to extend the project to include other media. A fragment of the recording from the festival was released on the lathe cut album in a limited series of 10 copies, each of them as a unique artifact, prepared by Mila Nowacka and Sebastian Buczek.

Altanova Press is an analog record label run by Sebastian Buczek. The sound is recorded in real time using the Polish cutter for sound postcards from the 1960s, improved by Buczek, each disc is made by hand.

The covers of Satin Made of Triggers Hummings were framed with original drawings and the plates were engraved with a diamond needle by Mila Nowacka.

As part of the premiere, there was a premiere exhibition of records and a concert performed by Antonina Nowacka, Teonika Rożynek and Kamil Szuszkiewicz in the space of the Pracownia Wschodnia gallery.

Satin Made of Triggers - Hummings will is only available at the Sklep-Galeria Karowa in Warsaw and the Cafe OTO store in London.

This Project was conceived through the correspondence of Vox Populi’s Axel Kyrou and Jim Strong. It serves to commemorate the 30th anniversaries of both the founding of the Philadelphia art collective, Vox Populi Gallery in 1988 and the release of Half Dead Ganja Music, the seminal 1987 album by Vox Populi!. Vox Populi! Emerged out of the eighties Industrial Underground in Paris. The Group’s mercurial experimentation was deeply influenced by Spirituality and Surrealism. They were further set apart for the incorporation of Folk Instrumentation and Influences derived from the diverse origins of the bands members. 
The selections included on “Half Alive Ganja Music” characteristically range all over the map from the Lush Pop Psychedelia of the lead single “Ney” to the albums closer, a Sprawling Live Outtake which Ebbs and Flows between the Bubbling electronics of half formed Art Song Crescendo through long passages of Ritual tinged Improvisation. Both Tracks, Comprise the 5 never before released recordings which make this (double) anniversary collection so special.

Cafe OTO opened in April 2008 with the aim of providing a home for creative new music that exists outside of the mainstream. It comprises one large cafe/performance space open during the day serving food and drink with an evening programme of live music almost seven nights a week. 

OTOROKU is part of OTOProjects - a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) that has been set up to manage the programme at Café Oto. Any profits from OTOROKU are put back into supporting what we do and will help us to continue programming the best musicians and performers from all over the world.
