Darren has composed music for over 20 years. He is a full time musician who works with schools and has recorded in some of the UKs best Studios. He has also played in bands for many years and taught 100s of inspiring students to play guitar. Some have gone on to earn degrees in their own right.

He was presented with a New College Nottingham Training and Employment Award (2001) in recognition of outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the course in Music.

Cage of Crows (formerly Little Red Dog) are two musicians, both songwriters, who perform their own original music in addition to covering a few songs of the modern dark jazz/gothic folk/blues/steampunk/cabaret genre.

After a brief, involuntary pause from public performance ion the latter part of 2016, we found ourselves needing to move our musical projects forwards. "Little Red Dog", we felt, didn't reflect the gravitas of the message within our music, so we have decided to move forwards with the new band name - "Cage of Crows"

The crow symbolises so many things. Change, luck, mystique, foretelling, the macabre, mischief, intelligence, a spirit guide, and much more. A "Cage of Crows"... well, maybe we'll let you decide for yourself.

With the new name comes new songs, a deeper, fuller sound, a move from being a mostly-acoustic duo to a musical performance team performing dark cabaret, gothic folk/blues. We're still debating whether to include the occasional happy song in our set. Expect the same signature, haunting vocals. Expect the favourite songs to endure. But also expect more layers, more power, more emotion, and more performance - we're massively excited about where this is all heading...

2016 has seen us perform (as Little red Dog) at Whitby Goth weekend, Airship Northstar Festival in Northumberland, Crewe Steampunk Convivial, Phoenix Alternative Festival. We particularly enjoy Steampunk and Alternative/Goth festivals, and are now actively looking for bookings for 2017 and beyond.
