From the very first version, the track was already moving close to 140 BPM.  Then it got remixed to death before an unauthorized version appeared which was 150 BPM plus.  This is the original Brooklyn Warehouse Redux which was slowed down to 133 BPM, to let it breathe a little bit.  Sounds much better this way, trust me.

Under his Awanto 3 guise, Steven van Hulle has long been considered a producer with immense potential. Now, he’s finally delivered on that promise with Opel Mantra, his stunning debut album.

To be released across three 12” singles between now and March (with all of the tracks to be collected together on CD at a later date), Opel Mantra twists house music into intoxicating new shapes, fusing a myriad of global influences into one thrilling, surprising whole. This is clandestine, atmospheric deep house as you’ve never heard it before. And boy, does it sound good.

Anyone with a keen interest in the Amsterdam electronic music scene will be familiar with van Hulle’s work. He’s already released a number of acclaimed solo singles on Rush Hour (his loose-limbed, decidedly cosmic debut, For Five, appeared in 2010), alongside highly regarded collaborations with fellow Dutch producers Tom Trago (under the Alfabet alias), Young Marco and San Proper. To date, though, his output has been limited to a handful of inspired productions.

Having had a glimpse of his talents, Opel Mantra proves his credentials once and for all. This first 12” in the series offers more than enough proof. Bristling with humid atmospheres, voodoo rhythms and tropical grooves, it fuses heavy African and South American influences with contemporary deep house sounds and grooves.

Jimmy Edgar's magical multimedia empire Ultramajic continues its steady output of heady dance wares with a new drop from the enigmatic Aden. After a few very well-received releases from the main man himself, the label will welcome a slew of exciting new recruits to the roster in the year to come.

After a smoking hot white label on Ultramajic earlier in the year, Aden keeps the bar impossibly high for 2014 with a set of 4 extended pieces of house-fueled, techno-touched rollers designed for maximum euphoric impact. It's clear that seasoned (or at least extraordinarily talented) hands have crafted these dynamic tunes - they shine, bump, and soar in all the right places. It's no accident - the arrangements here are the results of a truly inspired mind. 

Heads who don't know yet will have a fun time following the clues and playing "guess who" but that's ultimately beside the point - the tracks stand firmly on their own as ultra-effective dancefloor tools loaded with memorable vocal hooks, heavy grooves and unstoppable club momentum. Inspired by Aden's own "mystical experiences", it isn't hard to imagine peak-timers getting sweaty and transcendental to these four hard-working, muscular belters. There is a top-notch precedent being set here, and it only makes it all the more exciting to see what Ultramajic conjures up for us in the near future.

Gangstercast 65 comes from the highly regarded New York based DJ/producer ‘DBow’ 

Danny “DBow” Bowman has been a feature on the New York City House scene since the early 90’s and has played alongside some of the figureheads of House music. DBow has worked with a number of labels through the years including Farris Wheel Recordings, Good For You Records and Beatdown Music. 
Recently DBow has been creating remix’s for Todd Terry and his In-House Record Label, and continues to play in clubs all over NYC including the Verboten, as well as all across the US.

You might know DBow from his banger “Get Involved” that came out in the early 2000’s on Beatdown Music. The song was backed by the legendary Frankie Knuckles, who’s remix received huge commercial success on a global scale.

We asked DBow how this mix represents him as an artist, to which he responded; “Well iv been listening to this music from a really young age so the old school vibe of this mix def represents a lot of what inspired me and what I was listening to growing up”

He drives home the idea that house music is alive, well and growing from explaining what the House Gangster movement mean to him; “House Music... Low Riders... For the ladies....Party for a Living ...Just Blaze ... Always Keep hustling, Keep Grinding, Keep it real, and Keep it House .

DBow describes the House gangster sound as “a versatile mix of House on the Tougher side from Deep to Jackin to Tec with some Disco and hip hop flavours added in”. 
DBow exudes passion and excitement for his craft and describes House music as his life. “It’s my life really, its basically my Friend, My Wife, and my Therapist”

Finally when telling us how he chose the tracks for this mix he described is process as slightly random, usually picking the first 2 tracks and taking it from there, just going off the vibe of what’s playing.

One of the most forward-looking producers in the continuing Chicago renaissance of the 1990s, Gemini first came to the world's attention through his recordings for cult Chicago labels Cajual / Relief. He began recording early in the decade, and gained fame for the minimalist flavour of Cajual twelves like ‘Tangled Thoughts' and ‘Duality'. Gemini debuted his album work in late 1997 with his stunning 'In and Out of the Fog and Lights' LP for Peacefrog, which followed 'Hibernation' and 'North Star' EP's. Being a highly sought after DJ in both America and Europe as well as an in demand producer / remix, Spencer Kincey aka Gemini is one of the most important jewels in the Chicago house crown. This is the last E-Tones tape that I ever came across in my searches.  E-tones unique flavor of Soulful divas and Bumping Bass beats.  I remember standing in line at MPLS parties and hearing the MPLS kids all talk about how they couldn't wait until E-Tones came on later.  Pretty soon I became a raving fan too!  Enjoy!
