As number seven of nine children growing up  without  material favor, I was set up to understand some limits accordingly. The love in our family was all we really needed and the music we listened to through the 60’s and 70’s couldn’t be beat. The Beatles, The Stones and Motown permeated our house growing up and when I heard CCR “Down On The Corner” somehow I heard the drums more personably and I thought that the drums were so cool, that I wanted to play drums. I was only around 7 years old at that time and it wasn’t till I graduated High School and got my first job that I was able to buy my first drum set.

While being a U.S. immigrant and DACA recipient brings many challenges, Caliph has learned to funnel his life story directly into his music. As his honesty often creates for a thoughtful depiction of social issues, his gained inspiration from artists like Mase, Michael Jackson, and Pharrel result in unique melodies and strong word play. The combination is a contagious energy, which is exactly what connects the New Bedford, MA artist to the people as he jumpstarts his musical career.
