Sounds Like Disco is an American indie-dance band from Los Angeles, California. Founded in 2013, the group is composed of five members: Sergio German (Guitar/Vocals/Synth), Miguel Lopez (Guitar), Jake Shafer (Bass/Synth), Callie Ray (Vocals), and Jimmy Zendejas (Drums). Influenced by the likes of Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, and Metric; Sounds Like Disco mixes indie-electronic rock with disco break beats to create a synthesis of post-punk dance-rock.

Sounds Like Disco recorded their first EP, Reckless...!, in only 6 days. With studio time booked and a West Coast tour slated to begin within weeks of Ray joining the band, time was in short supply. The EP was released independently on August 2, 2016, to a tremendously positive reception.

Sounds Like Disco is known for an upbeat atmosphere and energetic live performances found by audiences to be both infectious and engaging. As a result, the band has been invited to perform at several festivals, including the Chocolate and Arts Festival in downtown Los Angeles, and the Konsept and Arts Music Festival in Orange County. Most recently, SLD performed live on air for KXLU 88.9fm as part of their “Livation” program series.

After years of playing Ska in the underground Los Angeles scene, German and Zendejas slowly moved away from their "Skacore" roots toward a more relevant/mainstream indie rock sound. In need of a bassist, several ads were placed online. Simultaneously, Shafer was in search of a guitarist to fill out his former project, a piano-driven melodic rock band. While posting an ad of his own online, Shafer stumbled across German's home demos. Upon hearing a single track he was immediately hooked. This lineup persevered for a few years, with various other members coming and going. Finally, German and Zendejas met Lopez while attending classes for a college music program. A fan and a friend, Lopez asked to sit in for a rehearsal. Shortly thereafter, his talents secured him a permanent position within the band. Still in need of a dedicated vocalist, the group decided to double their efforts in search of a true talent. By a stroke of luck, Ray came across some instrumental demos the band had posted online. Loving the sound and energy, she auditioned, and within days was added to the mix, solidifying a foundation for their musical vision.
