Deejay Astral, the artist formerly known as Palace, is making moves to establish his new persona, and his new EP on W&O Street Tracks (out Dec. 7) should more than see to that. In the loosest possible sense, the three tracks that comprise Astral's self-titled three-tracker could be classified as house music. But it's so much more than that. None of the tracks on the EP stick to a rigid format, constantly toying with house music's innumerable tropes. "Phantasy", in particular, takes a deep house melody and distorts it to give it a crunchy analogue feeling not often heard in house music. Add to that the unsettling, tortured vocal refrain that drips with anguish and you've got a piece of house music that won't be forgotten in a hurry. This is one hell of an opening gambit and one we can't wait to see him top.

A foundation Dutch tech craftsman with an oceanic body of acclaimed work behind him, he marks his arrival on Josh Winks stable with another one of his signature jacking house sessions. The strong groove flavour can be tasted within seconds of biting into the track as a big warm bassline bumps with classic NY-style hypnosis. The strutting drums maintaining order, Michel carefully guides us up the euphoric scale without ever losing control the reigns. Classy, soulful but deep and dark whatever side of the house/techno axis you flex, this will find a perfect sweet spot in your set. Remix-wise Ovum invite another new friend: Local Talk founder Crackazat brings more organs to the party androlls out a dynamic deep house groove that rises deftly with Chandler-style chords before dropping into a sunlit, goosebumping expanded version of the riff. Dont even talk to us about his Dub 1 version Utilising the same build as his original mix, the riff is suddenly joined by an elastic bassline that can ping us from his Bristol hometown to Ovum's Philly HQ and back again. A perfect tonic for the world right now, feel good vibes like these are essential. We cant thank De Hey andMichel De Hey - Tracklights enough.

Sunflower serves as a representation of what’s to come for 2020, and how 2019 and every aspect of it influenced my world and the world around me. Recorded in Tokyo and New York, two of my favourite and most inspirational places (to me), Sunflower comprises 4 tracks which are a stand alone project, but an introduction to the debut Mall Grab album slated for a late 2020 release.

Legendary Italian house producer Don Carlos is to release Livin A Dream on IRMA Records in early 2020. It is a collection of previously unreleased records and reworks from his vast and vital reserves of tracks made in the nineties. Digging deep in the archives. 

Active since the seventies. Don Carlos is best known for his cult classic Alone, a dreamy Balearic anthem that still resonates to this day. As well as that he has put out plenty of seminal EPs and LPs that fuse Latin, jazz, prog, house, disco and electronic soul into superbly stylish and emotive tracks that bring people together. 

Last year he came back to the fore with the Alina single on Imogen which reminds people all over the world of his luxurious, elegant sound and so now is the perfect time to serve up some of the unheard music from his essential back catalogue. 

As such this album takes in timeless dream house, new age material, slow motion disco, piano laced anthems, deep sunset vibes and plenty of masterfully melodic cuts that have you lost in thought and willing summer time to come. There are also new versions of the excellent Alone and Paranoia, a Trombone version of Aqua, extended mix of Move Your Body and Remida and plenty more alternative takes on some of his biggest tunes. 

All in all this is a vital collection of music that has more than stood the test of time from a criminally underrated legend of the European deep house scene.
