Disquiet Junto Project 0538: Guided Decompression
The Assignment: Get someone from tense to chill.

Step 1: Your goal with this piece is to guide someone from a place of intense stress to something more sedate. Keep that in mind.

Step 2: A lot of meditation-oriented music takes the end point as the start. Consider that it can be jarring to listen to calm music when you are anything but calm.

Step 3: Compose a piece of music that starts in a state of accelerated tension, allows the listener to align their own tension with that of the music, and then slowly proceeds to calm down, until the music is sustainably peaceful.

Stress into Rest (disquiet0538)

My wrist was hurting as a result of poor sleeping position choices - hence the title.  Every sound here originated with either my breath or the wind and no wrists were harmed during the making of this musical number.

Gimme Some Wrist (disquiet0539)

I rested a recorder on my chest and recorded a minute or so of breathing with a few stomach gurgles for good measure. I then recorded several passes of this recording through reverbs, delays, a soft simulation of Rings and faded the original in and out of the resulting drone. If you listen carefully you’ll hear my borborygmus

Respirator(disquiet0539)

My breath and our cat, Lulu's, purring. The original recordings are subjected to distortions, gatings, and convolution and blackhole reverbs. They are also filtered with frequenies and resonances modulated by envelope followers on the breath/purr. The original breath is allowed into the mix here and there.
