The next release sees the return of Lucent after his bootleg of Pa Salieu’s and BackRoad Gee’s 2020 hit ‘My Family’. Becoming renowned for his funky flips over a year since his last appearance this time he returns with a second flip of arguably Grime’s biggest ever record - Sir Spyro’s ‘Topper Top’ Ft Teddy Bruckshot (RIP), Lady Chann & 1Forty staple Killa P. 

For some reason in the ever thriving UK scene we don’t seem to come across too many producers from Merseyside but one thats been a consistent staple across the Bass & UK Funky scene in the last few years is Lucent. Coming up to nearly a decade in the game he is regularly affiliated with the likes of Hot Cakes and Durkle Disco as well as the infamous but now redundant Trouble & Bass (USA) along with Tumble Audio and Roska Kicks And Snares. Releases across these labels have seen him work with AC Slater, Dread MC and more recently SB:TV’s critically acclaimed Buggsy. 

There’s been work with other 1Forty artists also with the likes of Fish and Shantie. Being the stand out UK Funky producer that he is, it’s no surprise that regular support comes from the likes of Marcus Nasty, DJ Pioneer, Roska and even Tensnake which led to shows across the north at the likes of Hangar 34 (Liverpool), Night Kitchen (Sheffield) to further down the country at The Club (formerly The Irish Centre, Nottingham), the infamous Motion (Bristol) and Lightbox (London).

From funky two-step to driving breaks, wonky bassline to happy hardcore; Ghoulish can do it all. 

Over the past year, the young producer and DJ has demonstrated his talent for channelling bassy UK flavours into his own productions which have had support from the likes of Riz La Teef, Bakey and Frazer Ray. A marvelled string of self-releases has highlighted his ability to sit amongst some of the most prominent names in the scene. 

On Sight is a solid example of how Ghoulish’s ability allows him to think outside of a standard structure and delve deep into broken rhythms and swinging percussion. Punchy basslines and whaling sirens are guaranteed to energise any raver on the dancefloor. Complex arrangements combine chaotic percussive patterns with vocal jitters and fine sample work, once again showcasing this prodigy’s talent. 

Firmly cementing himself as an integral part of the UK bass scene, On Sight is a step forward for Ghoulish as he climbs the ranks as one of the most talented artists in the game.

1Fortys most notorious duo comes in the pair of 9TRANE and Arridim with six releases between them since the launch of the Label.. this being their seventh. 'Plazma' was the first time the two had got together to create something and it didn't disappoint receiving a heap of support from the majority of the UK Funky and even the Bass scene as well as across BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM & Reprezent.

Arridim built the VIP shortly before launching his DnB alias Particle which has taken him to dizzying heights already with the Critical family, so not only did the people want the VIP as soon as it surfaced but it makes the perfect departing gift as Arridim takes a bow out of his bass alias for the foreseeable future.
