Calmus sadly disbanded for good in 2005 after several attempts to reform in one guise or another, but the band formed in a musical explosion in Swansea in 1997 when two college friends, Marc Lockwood (now drummer in Swansea filthy-grooved rockers, Uberchop) and Damian Harris (later bass in Bean(0), and now beat powerhouse at World Vs. World along with being founder member and drummer at King Goon), teamed up with multi-talented Swansea legend (when he was just a rumour, not a legend!), John Sandberg (Changerface, Horses Riding Humans, and many other bands since!) on guitar and vocals, and Alex Lewis (Casio Party) on bass.

Initially, Damian also played guitar and took lead vocals for half a set, with John on drums, and then they'd swap halfway through, but with John being a leftie and Damian being a rightie, along with John being a stronger live performer as frontman, it was decided for John to take on frontman duties and Damian drum on a full-time basis.

Between 1997 and 2000, they played everywhere and anywhere that would put them on, on the South Wales scene, delivering powerful live sets filled with short, sharp, grungy, punky, poppy outbursts of licks, grooves and riffs, accompanying John Sandbergs bitterly delivered cynical outlook on the world!

In the short time together, they made a massive impact on their local scene around Swansea Bay and recorded 4 E.P.'s at the now defunct Ocean Recording Studios on Albany Road, Roath, Cardiff, (the final one mysteriously disappearing within weeks of recording), before Damian quit the band in the summer of 1999.

In 2000, the band attempted to reform. but things were not quite right, so they recorded a 5th E.P. without Damian at Tim Hamill's Sonic Studios (when it was still in Kidwelly) and called it a day shortly after.

The original members still kept close comtact over the years, and Damian and John worked together on a few projects in the fledgeling years of the 21st Century, though due to not being able to settle with other musicians involved in the projects, nothing other than a few demos came to fruition.

In 2005, John, Marc, Alex and Damian started to work together on new Calmus material, but after a few sessions together and a few new demos recorded at Rock-A-Doodle Farm in Llanboidy, West Wales, they finally decided to go their seperate ways, forming their current individual projects/bands that they are still working today.

World Vs. World has been a name on the South Wales music scene since 2007, and has consisted of the current line-up of founder members, Kirk Bowen (vocals/guitar) and Damian Harris (drums) being joined by Krist Davison (bass/vocals) in late 2009.

After spending many years honing their sound on the road and with the self-released “Our Own Personal Tabloid” (2007) and “The Six Degrees of Separation” (2009) E.P.s, World Vs. World have managed to gain a solid reputation as a live act and also in the studio, and this helped contribute to them catching the eye of independent label, Death Monkey Records, with whom they signed in late 2012.

Musically the band’s influences both differ and unite due to vast musical tastes and backgrounds, and the songs combine haunting vocal melodies woven to intricate but powerful guitars from Kirk, backed up by the solid, flowing basslines and thumping beats of the Krist-Damian rhythm section combination, to create something which sounds both familiar, yet refreshingly different.

Add this to a passionate and energetic live presence and you can see how over the years, World Vs. World have become such a prominent band on the South Wales scene and have gained the respect from fellow musicians, fans, and promoters, alike. It has all also contributed to acquiring a truly worldwide reach with fans in over 30 countries around the world, whilst regularly making the playlists of a number of UK and internet radio stations.

World Vs. World are currently working on their debut album, due to be released on 2nd February 2015 through Death Monkey Records.
