This remix goes out to one of my favourite people in the world, Mr.Stevie Pilgrim, as today (January 27th) is his birthday! He's told  me on multiple occasions that one of his favourite game tunes is this classic tune from the NES gem, Balloon Fight! Another remix for you guys, this one has been a long time coming! I’ve finally teamed up with one of my best friends, Stevie Pilgrim, to create a collab video! It was such an honour to be able to work on music alongside one of my biggest inspirations for making music in the first place! While the title says this is a remix of the title screen from the original gamecube Animal Crossing (which was my first experience with any Nintendo game, by the way)! I almost feel bad for taking credit for this, since most of it was Steven anyways, but I'm sure you won't mind, as he is much more talented than I am anyways! BE SURE TO CHECK HIM OUT NOW! Whoops, looks like this remix is a week late, but I can explain why! I actually had made a full, completed remix of Scorch N' Torch from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, but the DAW I work with decided to glitch up and eventually corrupt the whole thing to the point where saving it or even working on it was no longer an option. I might get back to that song one day, but for now I needed a cheerful tune to ease the pain of losing that remix! I first heard this song in a wii game called We Ski, a game also developed by Namco. I've had this catchy tune in the back of my head ever since and have finally decided to remix it! Hope you guys enjoy!

Context:

Asleep, dreaming, on a wintry night in 2011, bundled up in the bed of my Brooklyn apartment.

That's when and where I made this song. I remembered the soundtrack to my dream so vividly that when I woke up in the middle of the night, I got out of bed to recreate what was to become the beginnings of "Carlin Dream." It makes me wonder what buried corner of consciousness that melody came from, and why these sort of things come to people while they sleep. This isn't the first time I've dreamed of a melody and turned it into a song later.  I guess it's not totally crazy that we can dream music though: where do melodies come from while we're awake anyway? I'd bet it's the same place. 

As for this piece, I recently stumbled across the original music files and decided to build on that 3am stream of consciousness to finish it here, one year later.
