Lograr la intimidad con quienes escuchan solo se puede generar en este espacio. Casi emulando un ritual ancestral , rodeados de fuego y bajo las estrellas, os dejo aquí, una parte de lo que sucedió. Espero que el mismo pueda transmitir aunque sea una sensación de presencia, y para quienes lo vivieron en carne propia, que las memorias los acompañen y retrotraigan eternamente.

Adesso Music taps South African heavyweights KingDonna and Argento Dust for powerful new remixes of Junior Jack & Pat BDS’s recent smash, ‘E.V.O’.

A rising force in Johannesburg’s house music scene, KingDonna has built a reputation for blending traditional African rhythms with forward-thinking house grooves, with releases on top labels from MoBlack to Nervous. His remix of 'E.V.O.’ is a perfect showcase of this duality – fusing heartfelt, soulful melodies with deep, driving grooves that will light up dancefloors worldwide.

Having cut his teeth as part of The House Junkies collective, Durban-born producer Argento Dust boasts a refined and emotive sound that has caught the attention of legends like Black Coffee and led to releases on Madorasindahouse as well as collaborations with Shimza and more. Dust’s take on ‘E.V.O.’ delivers a more atmospheric and stripped-back approach, with delicate synth and piano motifs raining down over hypnotic rolling drums.

Founded in 2019 by Junior Jack and his music partner Pat BDS, Adesso Music has become a beacon for club-ready, forward-thinking modern house music. With releases from artists like Flashmob, Wally Lopez, CASSIMM, Eldeanyo, Tim Cullen, AndThen, and many more, the label has cemented itself as a champion of both established and emerging underground talent and a definite one to watch.

When we set out to celebrate 20 years of Yoshitoshi, little could we have imagined the scope and depth that the Classics campaign would realize. What started as a simple idea soon captured our imaginations, and an incredible journey into both past and future began. Bringing back classic music is never easy; after all, the classic status is not easily attained. So picking the artists that would help us craft these remix packs was a highly selective endeavor. In the end, the efforts paid off, and the amazing team of creators that were so gracious to assist us not only did justice to the works at hand. they completely modernized them.

Just take Nicole Moudaber’s remix of Alcatraz’s anthem “Giv Me Luv.” With its insane sounds and marathon arrangement, its no wonder the remix earned her Beatport’s top-selling techno record of 2015 and a 2016 IDMA! Robosonic did so well with their remix of Eddie Amador’s “House Music” that we signed them on for not one, but two more (one of which, “Rise,” another Amador record, closes this compilation). And rounding out the Amador trio is my friend CJ Jeff, whose remix of “6AM” amplifies all the great elements of the original to weapons grade.

Matador and Victor Ruiz provided massive mixes of PQM’s “You Are Sleeping” and Luzon’s “The Baguio Track” respectively, each of which became crucial elements in my sets. Then Loco & Jam turned it up to eleven with their blistering remix of Chiapet’s “Tick Tock,' another peak- time anthem for me. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Paul Ritch’s and Ambivalent’s respective remixes of “Westworld” (another Chiapet record) and Valentino’s “Flying” are just beautifully textured, cerebral records that I play both at home and in the club. Of course, I have a remix here too - a take on one of my favorite Yoshi records ever, Kings of Tomorrow's 'I Want You (For Myself).' It was such a treat to remix this track after all these years!

The diversity presented in just this collection is staggering, not to mention the range of other remixes in the Classics series. Though not included on this compilation, we've had additional contributions from Ardalan, Will Clarke, Cid Inc, Psycatron, Soul Clap, Miss Nine, Shiba San, Perc, Christoph, Trent Cantrelle, Anthony Attalla, and Uto Karem, all of whom we were extremely excited to include in the project and will feature in future collections. At Yoshitoshi we are proud of this diversity, because we think good music deserves to be heard, regardless of style.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Yoshitoshi's fans, whether you’ve been listening to our records for one day or since the first days of our M Street location in Washington, DC in 1994. We are nothing without you and we hope you’ll join us for another 20 years.
