Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands, and features the vocals of Veerle. Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey. 
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori, two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.

These meta worlds formed a connection on the plain from Berlin to Chiang Mai within this set, representing Riyoons resume of his decade in Berlin. The russian dj and producer exposes a delicious sound journey of deeply rolling & flowing downtempo beats. Get excited for a trip through dope valleys, hypnotic canions and sweet peaks – always accompanied by pure coolness. What a spectacular ride!

Grown up in Saint Petersburg, Andre spend years of travelling and experiencing the world from different perspectives, exploring both eastern and western cultures. He has travelled through middle eastern countries, South-East-Asia, Russia, Europe, Indonesia and India. He participated meditations in Nepal and has been djing in Goa, Japan and Bali. All of his colorful travels made a huge impact on his musical concept which turned his sound into a multi-faceted script full of deep, hypnotic and damn sexy vibes.
Coming back to his native city Saint Petersburg, which always was a cradle for rock and electronic music streams in Russia, he met his old fellow Droomie who has been a bass guitar player in several local rock bands. Together they decided to start a new project where they can realise new musical conceptions of producing and playing live sets joined by bass guitar. The outcome got released on labels like Leveldva, Wanderlust Musica, Druma, Baikal Nomads, Human Resources and MÒNADA – you can catch Salguero's Remix of Andre P & Droomie's freshly released EP °Omar° here in the mix.

Brahmanism is a philosophy and a way of life, originating from the history of the Vedas, practised on the basis of specific inferred beliefs. The fundamental and principle belief of Brahmanism defines Brahman and its attributeless element that was first captured by the Rishis who compiled the Vedas. The core concepts of Brahmanism are significantly aligned with metaphysics, questioning what is actually real, the validity of time, of being, of consciousness, the origin and basis of all existence. 
Brahman as the all-pervading, all-eternal and the prime cause of all that moves and does not move and everything that ever existed, that exists now, and that is going to exist. The Atman, the monad, the soul – forms the second most important concept in Brahmanism. The Atman is considered to be the source of all vitality among humans. 
"That which existed before creation, that which constitutes the existent whole, and that into which all creation dissolves is the all-pervading Brahman, and the cycle of creation, sustenance, and destruction of the universe is endless." (Kena Upanishad)

Before we breakthrough, we must face the breakdown. What is breaking down in your life?

When something breaks down, it provide us with an opportunity to observe, respond, grow and breakthrough to a new way of not just surviving, but thriving in life.

In this dance, you are invited to hold the image of what is breaking down in your life. It could be something external in your world, or a long held belief. Let it express itself in your dance. Give it form, give it life, give it the profound opportunity to move through you. Take this opportunity to face it fully.

By giving the breakdown a means to express itself, the nature of its energy can begin to transform, revealing the underlying root cause and/or belief behind it.

If the dance pushes you to the point of breaking down, you are invited to move to the next step.

Embody love and compassion.

Perhaps this expresses itself through your dance as stillness, or a gentle flow, or deeper breathing patterns. However it expresses, envision love and compassion enveloping you and your dance.

Feel all the feels, and hold yourself and the breakdown you have faced with love and courage.

Remember... breakthrough emerges from the breakdown. We’ll see you on the other side.

This set was played as part of an online dance for the Asheville Movement Collective during a period of quarantine and general unrest surrounding Covid-19. With so many of our lives disrupted, it is a potent time to take notice of what is breaking down. I'm grateful for the feedback I received from my fellow AMC facilitators and friends who continue to educate me on the art of mix making and conscious dance. Letztes Wochenende hatten Sakuro (https://soundcloud.com/sakuro-saf) und Ich die große Ehre, die AktivistInnen im und um den Dannenröder Forst, mit einem kleinen aber feinen DJ-Set auf andere Gedanken zu bringen! Die Menschen vor Ort bauen atemberaubende Baumhäuser und Bodenstrukturen in den Wald, manche wohnen und leben dort schon seit einem Jahr und setzen sich mit viel Liebe und Kraft für den Erhalt dieses Waldes ein.
Unsere Intention war diesen wunderbaren Menschen eine kleine ekstatische Atempause zu bescheren um für die - sich zu spitzende - Lage neue Kraft zu tanken! 
Seit dem 01. Oktober werden nun Bäume gefällt und Räumungen angeordnet, mächtige Buchen sollen gefällt werden für eine weitere Schnellstraße (A49) - und das obwohl eine zeitgemäße Verkehrswende längst überfällig ist!

Fühlt euch eingeladen vor Ort Präsenz oder euch in irgendeiner anderen Weise solidarisch mit den Aktivisti vor Ort zu zeigen!

Once in a while I combine and make live saxophone Dj sets.

Camel Riders Trips 017 - Shiku

Thank you for finding the latest in the In Too Deep series.  I wanted to drop a set that summed up what we have nearly all felt we have missed in 2020.  The ability to start a night out with a few chill tunes just to get us in the mood, maybe a couple of ‘pre drinks’… the anticipation of the night ahead… and then the night itself.  Funky Chap and I wanted to create a set that carried you through the journey of a great night out from beginning to end to remind us all that it won’t be long until we are able to get out there again and share a great time with friends and fresh tunes to match.
For this set you will find Funky Chap spinning the first hour in typical fashion from him.. an eclectic style that I struggle to find anyone else managing with such a cool and well, funky approach.  I’d say it’s very unique, and that’s what I love about him.  As head honcho of one of the best and most established channels out there with Sunset Grooves, it was a great honour to have him aboard for this trip.

So I play the second hour, and I’m going back to my roots with a peak time clubby sound that I wanted you to close your eyes and imagine you are there amongst it all, with the wonderful people, the lights, the bass, hands in the air.. ah, how we miss it !
We really appreciate you joining us and hope you enjoy this set.

From Funky Chap..   I have been a fan of John’s edits and track selection from the moment I first heard him. Therefore the moment we got together to make this in too deep mix and being in charge of starting it off, I got inspired to choose tracks that would take the dance floor on a unique musical experience. Naturally, being the founder of @sunset-grooves my track selection always varies yet has that groove that will keep driving the mix. The idea is to get the listener all warmed up so that John can take over and exhaust the listeners to a frenzy.
