Each KAROO performance is a special moment, an encounter of diversity, where together with our public we embark on a journey through different traditions, languages, rhythms, story telling from past and modern life challenges, power of community, of love, of respect, the power of connecting with others in everyday life, 
we travel through a range of emotions, and all mixed with with a lot of joy and good vibes. 

”When we are on stage, we have fun, is something that comes naturally … we want to share it with people because we cant just keep it to ourselves, we want our public to take our message home to their families and friends.

ABDOU CISSOKHO, ”I am a singer and kora player coming from a traditional griot family, from Ziguinchir, Casamanse Senegal, where music and story telling as been passed over many generations, as a tool to bring awareness to our communities, and contribute for a more sustainable and loving world. I have the honour and responsibility to continue this mission, now reaching out to other communities and cultures around the world. With Karoo project, griot music meets Swedish Folk and Portuguese Fado to create a unique experience. 
I want to honnor my people through my lyrics, and it is a pleasure for me sing in Mandinka and Wolof, and see the people in other countries enjoying it, I want to share it with the whole world. At the same time is also beautiful to expose people in my country to other cultures represented in Karoo, including the Swedish Folk and Portuguese Fado”.

SOLBRITT, ”I met Abdou in Senegal back in 2010 when I was a part of a music exchange project between young musicians. I then realised that Abdou and his brothers already lived in Sweden and when we all came back his brother Lamine invited me to play with them on shows. Years later I never stopped playing with Abdou in different projects and now we strive to develop Karoo together. I love how the Scandinavian sound from the violin connects so well with the west African kora and since I’ve played so much with Abdou we know each others musical language very well. For me Karoo is a way to develop our own sound and songwriting to another level and also bringing Andrés influences from his background in to it.”

ANDRÉ ”while being a host of many world music Jams in Stockholm some years back, I had the opportunity to meet many great musicians, including Abdou. We have  connected very well from the beginning, became good friends and we love creating and playing music together. Through Abdou I also met Solbritt and since then we have been co-creating what today is Karoo’s sound. I look forward to sharing the outcome of these encounters of cultures, our message to all over the world.”

For Irina Röjas and André Nobre, who together form Lua Mantras, the mantra song has a direct entrance to our hearts and the feeling of full divine presence. The mantra can be sung when we want to attract helping energies that strengthen and guide us during different phases of life. It is used as a means to get in touch with ourselves and our inner wisdom. Through Lua Mantras, Irina and André want to invite us to this very room in our heart, inner wisdom and presence.
