My new album "Phant[as]" is out via Aesthetical, the sub-label of Cyclic Law.

“Imagined as a lucid nightmare, fuelled by my various inner struggles, Phant[as] is a trip into the depths of imagination. The project is inspired by Phantasmagoria, a form of theatre that was most popular in Paris in the 18th century, in which images of skeletons, demons and ghosts were projected onto walls and/or sheets. During these performances, there was a rapid succession of lights, smoke, illusions, ghosts and spectres that deceived and amazed the audience. The album then revolves around the concept of "illusion" to be understood as a succession of images, sounds, colours, objects, actions that vividly affect the senses and imagination showing unreal and intangible figures, but still visible and paralysing, just like our fears are. In fact, each track deals with my different turmoils, negative thoughts that have conditioned the last few years of my life and describe uneasy conditions shared by most of my peers. The project is presented as a cathartic experience in which I exorcise my mental ghosts and confronts challenges with the powerful and persuasive weapon that is sound, composed of obsessive rhythms and evanescent atmospheres. Finally, the reference to the Magic Lanterns is linked to my research in the field of audiovisuals, since they were the first performances in which an attempt was made, through the combination of motion graphics, light games and sound, to obtain greater sensorial and emotional involvement with the public.”

Jodövade, is a music producer from the United States. With a heavily groove-oriented style, the artist pulls inspiration from many corners of music. This fresh take on lo-fi music features many references to Machinedrum, Stray, Glacci, and Reeffrog, drenched in a scratchy, sheeny grain that carries the rolling, bouncing percussion chaotically.
This album glides seamlessly between chillout, lo-fi hip-hop, indie, downtempo and the 8 tracks infuse deep emotions and light atmosphere. Crispy leads, ambient pads, organic synths, lofi keys and analog plucks brings the album to life.

Distilling and yet transcending the current moment of ambient electronica, "Star Drifter" tracks are cartographers of a mysterious Fantastic Planet and this subtle soundscape retraces their steps. The atmospheric nature of the album is bountiful with textural electronics woven together in a manner that comes across as very well written and produced as well as authentic and personal, which is a joy to experience.

Description

The mix opens with the haunting vocals of Akira Takahashi and piano perfomance by Ikue Asazaki  with their track "Yoisurabushi," setting an ethereal atmosphere. Sarathy Korwar's "Lost Parade" follows, infusing intricate rhythms with a touch of melancholy. Sombre Lux's "Cove" continues the exploration into atmospheric darkness, leading to the intense and foreboding "DEMON TIME 600 HÄSTAR (L.S.P INTRO)" by VARG²™.

The mix transitions to the tension-filled "Ambulance Chase" by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow, providing an adrenaline rush. Rajna's "Black Tears (edit)" combines emotional vocals with ambient textures, while The Allegorist's own track, "Through The Forest” from her 5th album TEKHENU, captivates with its enigmatic allure. Hekla's "Ris og Rof" introduces a sense of mystery, followed by Joe Rainey & Allie Bearhead's "turned engine," which delivers an intricate blend of soundscapes.

Synthmonk's "Distorted Digits”, from the same compilation, delves into distorted electronic soundscapes, leading to The Allegorist's "Whispers Of The Wind,” the main track on her fifth album TEKHENU out via her own imprint Awaken Chronicles, an evocative and atmospheric piece.

White Boy Scream's "Rockets" surprises with its intense performance, followed by Sugai Ken_Akuta's experimental "yOrUkOrU." Wiegedood's "Wade" brings a surge of dark energy, followed by Ibukun Sunday's "Burn It All Down," a track that immerses listeners in brooding textures. Deru's "Midnight In The Garden With Ghosts" conjures a cinematic ambiance, while Braxius' "Tűz és Jég" adds a touch of mysticism.

The mix concludes with "Anda Þinn Guð" by Högni, featuring Hatis Noit, leaving listeners in awe of the spiritual and otherworldly journey they have experienced.
