Building on a track by Buckminster Music, this is part 2 in the Disquiet Junto project as described below:

Disquiet Junto Project 0526: Magic Number (2 of 3)
The Assignment: Record the second third of an asynchronous trio.

Step 1: This week’s Disquiet Junto project is the second in a sequence intended to encourage and reward asynchronous collaboration. This week you’ll be adding music to a pre-existing track, which you will source from the previous week’s Junto project (disquiet.com/0525). Note that you aren’t creating a duet — you’re creating the second third of what will eventually be a trio. Important: Leave space for what is yet to come.

Step 2: The plan is for you to record a short and original piece of music, on any instrumentation of your choice, as a complement to the pre-existing track. First, however, you must select the piece of music to which you will be adding your own music. There are tracks by numerous musicians to choose from. The majority are in this playlist:

Over The Roofs And Chimneys, Clouds Gather. With buckminster.music [disquiet0526]

@DeDe made such a lovely contribution with "Unfinished" to kick off disquiet0525. I was inspired to play with it. I had various ideas including creating some kind of harmonic piping over the rich bass string sound, but ended up playing with the rhythmic structure of the piece. I'm not sure what could come next, but I hope someone gets inspired to complete the work.

I added more layers of Daniel's beautiful recording over the top of what he had performed and put together. A small number of clips were time stretched to vary the tempo more freely.

The Assignment: Record the second third of an asynchronous trio.
The first step to this assignment was selecting a track from last weeks submissions. I decided on a track by Paul Reiners (https://soundcloud.com/paul-reiners-1). Paul's tracks are for me probably the most instantly recognisable of the regular participants of Disquiet Junto. And while I think our approaches to music are probably very different, they never fail to bring a smile to my face.

Since the idea is that the track can be used for the third part of this Junto, my main challenge was to not make the track too full for someone to add on to. What I decided on was to re-use Paul's rhythmic pattern, but now as the basis for a more melodic layer.
