One of my earliest microtonal compositions from 2003, and possibly one of my "greatest hits" for sure. People love this one....it's for sampled recorder and harpsichord, and uses 19edo (19 equal steps per octave).

Ambrosia Chords by Ear - 22 EDO

Minecraft's sweden retuned to 22 EDO. 22 EDO doesn't make 9/8 and 10/9 equal thus has a slightly exotic flavor and does not produce a 5-limit diatonic scale with a chord on each degree. This was done with the scale 
D\!  E\!  F/|  G\!  A\!  Bb/|  C/|   in sagittal notation.  

Normally the octave is divided into 12 equal parts but in this tuning the octave is divided in 22 equal parts with 7 notes being chosen as the scale.

Butterfly Overture - 22 EDO

The third of movement of 'Three Pieces for Electric Kantele in Just Intonation' (2009). Emma Kuntsi at her graduation recital, Sibelius Academy, Finland, Apr 23, 2016. Special kantele with the following 21 pitch classes (1/1 = C): 1/1, 25/24, 27/25, 9/8, 75/64, 6/5, 5/4, 32/25, 125/96, 4/3, 25/18, 36/25, 3/2, 25/16, 8/5, 5/3, 125/72, 9/5, 15/8, 48/25, 125/64. Fifth-tones ('diesis') abound, and septimal intervals, such as 7:4 and 7:6, are approximated by 5-limit intervals, making use of the 225/224 comma.

Giving 19edo a proper go. I've found the virtually pure 6:5 minor third, 14:13 minor second and 28:27 augmented unison of its meantone tuning [virtually identical to 1/3-comma] very appealing, although it's a tuning system that needs space to really be understood by the ear, so take a seat on the 19edo sofa and feel yourself slowly sink down.

It's a wonder 19(1/3-comma)'s not been more popular (though it has had a small share of keen exponents since the early 16th century) - full circulation and transposability in only 19 keys, each with inframinor, minor, major and ultramajor harmonies available. Here I've made use of the pure minor thirds and slightly beating major thirds on offer. 3:2, 5:4 and 9:5 are all 1/3-comma flat of just, while their inverses 4:3, 8:5 and 10:9 are all 1/3-comma sharp. Still, 1/3-comma (just over 7c) seems like a pleasant little amount of beating most of the time, still only about half of the impurity of 5:4 and 6:5 in 12edo.

Wurly Minors And Enharmonic Tetrachords (17 out of 19edo)

settles on a loop of minor seven chords each a minor third apart, only in 19-equal, if you cycle four regular 6:5 minor thirds you end up a diesis away from where you started, so there's a fifth chord in the sequence where the chord changes from regular minor to infra minor: D#m7 - F#m7 - Am7 - Cm7 - Cim7 - D#m7, etc.

Unusual Unreal Unbelievable You (11 - EDO)

Forever is in multiplicity and mutation. Musician and visual artist Nicola Tirabasso (VISIO), together with Haunter founders Daniele Guerrini and Francesco Birsa Alessandri called for a collective effort in order to celebrate these elements of experience. In opposition to linear notions of time itself. An attempt to let perceptions of future and past bleed together, to establish every moment as an infinite process of consumption and re-generation. A compilation of 33 artists, each contributing in their own peculiar style, adding their own blends to the palette and exposing the lineage of their work. It is precisely to state that the perennial immanence of difference is what constitutes the basis for true unity, that the curators have grouped an utterly diverse cast of contributors, whose output strikes a vastity of moods and textures, and grows out of very distinct intentionalities and backgrounds. Making kin without borders, letting mutual support evolve into a chimeric infinity.

Besides Action Sports, the duo of friends and frequent collaborators Matthew Pepitone (alias Karmelloz) and Dylan Howe (alias Cplusplus) together form another two vital projects - Julius Theory and Portland Compressor. As Actions Sports they candidly combine their solo approach into sublime and multifaceted compositions, welcoming the listener with a great dose of warmth and pleasantly-colored sentiment. After dropping their first eponymous longplay via Barcelona-based label angoisse, Gin&Platonic is proud to present the duo's follow-up – 'Action Sports 2', which marks their most diverse and complex work yet.

Moderately reinterpreting the legacy of such as BoC or Biosphere while still staying up to date, the duo ambitiously joins the rank of rising contemporary ambient-oriented projects, recruiting from labels like West Mineral or Motion Ward. Beautifully balanced and elegantly composed, the music on Action Sports 2 seeks to erode the delimiters between pristine hi-fi digital dub, abstracted electronic glitches, and the smoked-out, but emotive haze of the American Pacific Northwest ambient. Being released in early November, the mesmerizing longplay calls for repeated listens while out on cold strolls through nature trails, or just leaving unpacked for a proper evening couch voyage with a thick damiana spliff in hand. Either way, Action Sports 2 offers enough thought space for the inherent and low-key rewarding post-summer contemplation.
