Taking over tapes #132 is Berlin-based radio host, DJ and producer, MLE. Navigating sonically between a multitude of club ready sounds, MLE can be described as a deep digging selector known to take dancers on a journey between between genres on the dance floor.

Cutting her teeth in the music industry by working at London institution Sounds of the Universe, she is currently the Rhythm Section International label manager and assistant label manager of Banoffee Pies Records.

MLE is the label manager of Peckham, London based label Rhythm Section

With a youth surrounded by endless grass, practical boredom and nothing to do, MLE spent her time escaping to the virtual reality of the internet, discovering the world of electronic music and its digital culture. Musical interests spurred by learning piano, clarinet and drums from a young age, her musical understanding informs an eclectic taste from Turkish disco folk to New Yorkian left field and clanging electro. 

Combining these interests with a warrior spirit for breaking down gender imbalance within dance music, dope synth noodler, and party instigator. MLE’s dedication is unmatched and will only continue to grow as an artist, selector and booty shaking motivator.'

We're pleased to announce a new addition to the DJ Directory family. Emily Hill AKA https://soundcloud.com/can_u_feel_ml3 is part of the team behind https://soundcloud.com/bradleyzero and https://soundcloud.com/internationalblack, keeping things ticking over at the labels and helping to curate their regular club nights. As a DJ and radio host she holds down residencies on South London’s Balamii and Noods in Bristol, and can also be found working behind the counter at Soho vinyl institution, Sounds of the Universe.

With this mix we get a small insight into her love of weird party bangers and her natural ability to get a party started. With talent and dedication in abundance, her growth as an artist and selector show no signs of stopping anytime soon. Catch her alongside other DJ Directory crew at this year's festival as part of the last dance in Fort Punta Christo.

London-based DJ MLE has an intiuitive and inquisitive nature that's well beyond her years. Through her DJ sets and radio shows, formerly on Balamii and now on Worldwide FM and Noods, she has been navigating the darker experimental corners of dance music, from coldwave and electro to deconstructed club music and experimental pop edits. 

By day you can find her behind the counter at one of Soho's leading record shops, Sounds Of The Universe, and as a longtime member of the Rhythm Section team she helps to steer their sister label International Black.

We invited her on board for a mix that sees her connects the dots between broken club rhythms, acid, electro and bass...
