Aslan Venom is a profound DJ, Event Producer, Booker and Dancer from Amsterdam, currently living between Berlin and Wrocław. He is constantly expanding his musical boundaries by delivering a dynamic mix of House, Tech House and Techno and also dares to spin Downtempo, Breaks, Ambient and Trip-Hop beats. 

Extraordinary tracks that surprise friends and enemies, will encourage you to dance vividly until the night turns to dawn. Aslan Venom peeked into abandoned buildings, set up promising lineups and ran away from the authorities. He proved to be a true rave warrior who fought for our right to party freely! With some notorious crews, he succeeded in reviving the atmosphere of the 90s in Berlin's underground. 

With a view to the future, he founded the Vector collective and took a step towards legality by organizing festivals and parties in off-locations.

Shakib Jakir started his musical journey at a very young age. He grew up learning Indian classical music at the age of 4 playing harmony with his father. For years he played the bass, but his love for the melodic structures of deep house & techno drew him to produce his own crafted electronic creations. 

He learned production from some of his very close and talented friends, but his unique sound and production style came so naturally that he has since then taken his own path where he often blends beautiful strings, organic drums, and world sounds.

2020 has come to an end and so is our Podcast Series. Closing the list, we have a true electronic music pioneer in our home town, Steve PD. As an original member of the Pastilla Digital crew, Steve built his reputation as a top-notch DJ by putting together great opening and closing sets, and this time was no exception.  In this session, the Hardpop Club ex-resident made sure to include a variety of sounds and textures going from Indie Dance to House and Techno. Enjoy the journey!!

Sanetran is Nadia Sanetra, a Johannesburg-based DJ inspired by otherness and what the future, of especially Africa, sounds like. Influenced by artists throughout dancefloor history who have championed independence, openness and community, Sanetran is interested in expanding boundaries that exist (real and imagined) and inviting and welcoming people who want to share their energy. Nadia is also part of Not Sorry Club, a femme-centric collective aimed at building a more inclusive rave community.

James Morreel a.k.a DjMorreel is someone who's charismatic & very passionate about electronic music. He is versatile when it comes to creating unique set's & unforgettable track selections, with a wide range of  genres. 

He began his musical journey, stepping in the realm towards Techno, Tech House, Deep House & Progressive  House.  Since then he has zoned in on his craft & dedication to the beats. He realizes it's a gift & doesn't want to waste it. He has full understanding that it's all about the music & the people that enjoy & move to it! Thats why he does it in the first place. 

In 2018, he started to transition into production. To him this is where the rubber meets the road. His desire to push the sound further has become more than a dream, it's a vision. He just wants to spread his LOVE for music - can't say we blame him for this :)

Canopy Sounds 101: James Morreel

There are two sides to Cairo-based DJ and producer Hassan Abou Alam's sonic output. While one focuses on the ambient and atmospheric, the other is a form of organised chaos, that matches both synthetic and analogue sound.

These creations have landed on several labels over the last few years including Cologne's Traum Schallplatten, Audiolith and Morocco's Casa Voyager, as well as a very well received debut on Violet's naivety imprint, a sub-label of naive. Local label Rakete was another space for him this year, with him contributing a track to their Quest compilation, before making a return earlier this month for his first solo EP on the imprint, the aptly named Hope Amid Despair.

Following the release, we handed over the reigns to him for this week's Shine A Light On mix, which moves through the spaces between house, breaks, grime and bass. Get yourself acquainted...

The seasons are changing again. The warm summer breezes have given way to a chill, and what was once bursting with life and colour now lies dormant, waiting to be lifted again by the arrival of better days.

Winter is bleak – but it is beautiful. And for those of us who love music and live in cold countries, it is a special season.

A season that is defined by nights spent in dark, pulsing clubs – which seem to radiate the heat so sorely missed in the outside world – winter stands in stark contrast to the long days spent outdoors in the summer.

It is more intimate, more hidden away, more mysterious.

To celebrate this period of the year, we have once again brought together a group of hugely talented musicians to give their take on winter for the second instalment of our Seasons series. Each producer has delivered a unique, thrilling slice of music that encapsulates the colder months perfectly.

As we enter into this traditional period of hibernation, we turn to comforts such as music for warmth and inspiration, and to remind us that even in the bleakest times, beauty exists all around us.
