Radio Slave's 'Venti' is released on Rekids on May 17th and is a twelve-track celebration of Matt Edward's most prominent alias' history. Starting life as a series of singles that began in 2023, 'Venti' sees Edwards explore lower tempos, House, Disco, and the Pop reinterpretations that birthed the moniker back in 2001.

'Like everyone else, my life slowed down during the pandemic, and then I decided to move from Berlin with my family after being in the city for 15 years. This all led to a new perspective, and 'Venti' is a direct result of that - a new perspective on my career, history, future, and the current state of dance music.’ - Radio Slave

From Venti’s opening track onwards, a glistening piece of piano-led house that's become an anthem at Sean Johnston and the late Andrew Weatherall's lauded ALFOS parties, it is clear that Edwards is keen to celebrate the past but through the lens of now. A Radio Slave favourite, 'Wait A Minute', is updated to include a powerful vocal from Nez. Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' - a track that kicked Radio Slave into the modern dance music consciousness is reinvented as an Italo-inspired cover featuring Michael Love Michael delivering glorious vocals. 'Wild Life' and 'Wake Up', another two tracks that, as singles, dominated house and disco sets of the great and good in 2023, feel simultaneously fresh while paying homage to the origins of House - message-heavy vocals and all. A cover of Audion's 'Mouth to Mouth' and Edwards' tribute to Terry Hall, the Fun Boy Three reimagining 'The Lunatics' are keen displays of Radio Slave's knack for taking on beloved tracks and making them his own.

The lasers-set-to-stun cut-and-paste nu-disco of Radio Slave’s 'Jaws' is a muscular and timely reminder that the punch of a track lies in its feel rather than tempo, while Edward's command of dub aesthetics and unmatched ability to stretch grooves into a tension-filled journey shines through on 'New Balance' and the epic closer, 'Thirty-Six'. Never one to entirely give into the throes of the 4:4, the cinematic electro of 'Stranger In The Night' and Balearic Cagedbaby collab 'Amnesia' round out 'Venti' as the whole Radio Slave experience - as intense as it is subtle.

One of the most prolific and critically lauded electronic music artists of the past two and half decades, Matt Edwards was born in Catford, London, in the early 1970s. When acid house hit the city, Edwards was deep in the scene, and he's remained there since. Residencies at the groundbreaking Ministry of Sound and an 'unofficial' residency that has seen him become one of Panorama Bar's most booked DJs during his 15-year stint living in Berlin have provided the grounding for an enviable tour diary that continues today.

His Rekids imprint, a label that has platformed some of dance music's biggest names, has been regarded as a high benchmark for two decades with Matt as sole A&R. Collaborations with legendary artists such as DJ Hell and Robert Hood, releases for Running Back, R&S, Innervisions, Figure and more, and a remixography that simply couldn't be repeated in modern music show just how important Radio Slave is.

Beginning life as a 'heady 6/8 time urban jazz odyssey, 'Reunion is a stunning piece of modern, Hi-Tech Jazz that draws influences from Pat Metheny, Timeline, Innerzone Orchestra, and Clyde Stubbelfield's drumming.

While previous Quiet Village material was hewn from a myriad of samples extracted from Edwards' and Martin's notorious digging, 'Reunion' and its follow-ups are drawn from a tight-knit crew of session musicians, including the likes of Jon Hester and Thomas Gandey, adding further depth and feel to the QV sound. Already a firm favourite with Gilles Peterson and Luke Una, the latter of which leaked a clip of the release via his inimitable Instagram presence and called it 'something so fucking beautiful. Tony Allen, Sun Ra meets Carl Craig, Underground Resistance, house, tech, funk, everything rolled into one'.

'Reunion’ is the first single on The Quiet Village, Quiet Village's new imprint. Despite continually producing new music and a slew of remixes, most recently for Running Back and Isle of Jura, the long-term friends and collaborators have been unable to release under their artist name since their LP 'Silent Movie' in 2008. While a few releases under QV and their sometime DJ aliases of Maxxi (Edwards) and Zeus (Martin) have emerged, 'Reunion' is the beginning of a new and re-energised Quiet Village that will see more original material and remixes, DJ and live touring that began in Japan in May and curated compilations of treasures, old and new, in the coming months and years.

The night went on and on, lost in a fog watching as the flickering and flashing lights moved in the distance. He was sat by the riverside looking back on the city as it buzzed and whizzed as if it were some strange organism with its own life source.

It was endless, the throb and movement of people and things, weaving between concrete structures with their own agendas and priorities. At least so they thought.

Soon it would be daylight and a new warmth would wash away the sins of the evening, for now they were messy and lost within the haze.

Genius of Time are set to release a new EP paying homage to their take on a 'big room' sound and the 'tropes' of dance music. They do so in their own exquisite style with intricate production and subtle nods to that which have come before.

Sonic Juncture’s latest release on Dealt With Records, ‘Can’t I just Be?’ represents a new era of musical growth for the artists. Encapsulating this is the titular track, an intricate departure from their usual style. ‘Magicians Secret’ has tinges of the Sonic Juncture of old but is transformed due to the duo experimenting with their sound from the Apollo 11 moon lander while on ecstasy. Collaborating with house music legend Alton Miller to remix ‘Can’t I just Be?’ isn’t just a highlight for Sonic Juncture, it’s a testament and headnod to the quality of their music.

‘Magicians Secret’ could slip into the record collection of artists such as Artwork, DJ Harvey, Krystal Klear or Glasgow’s own DJ Billy Woods. This sweaty, peak-time roller encapsulates the psychedelic hedonism found at Pikes, Ibiza, Potato Head Beach Club or DJ Harvery’s new place, Klymax Discotheque in Bali.

Sonic Juncture comprises of DJ/Producer talents, George and Josh. They each initially embarked on separate musical journeys. Josh, whose rhythmic abilities were apparent from infancy as he played with pots and pans, he then matured his skills through guitar and production. Meanwhile, George refined his musical prowess through piano before immersing himself in diverse electronic genres. Their paths intersected at Falmouth University, sparking the collaborative journey that is Sonic Juncture.

George spent the last 2 years engrossed in the breaks/ garage/ electro scene of Bristol but now the duo are firmly rooted in the vibrant Brightonian music scene.

For over five years, they've been crafting their signature sound, blending melodic elements with rhythmic intricacies. Acid, breakbeat, garage, electro and euphoric house music with a chemical twinge have been a calling card of the producers.

Their creative process is often enhanced by plugins like VPS Avenger and Arturia Pigments. While hardware synths and drum machines have their charm, efficiency drives them towards VSTs and sample packs.

They embark on a new endeavour in 2024 as this year will bring the birth of their own record label Ecliptic Sound. Featuring a variety of both self releases and the works of other artists.

As fans, they revel in festivals like Dimensions and Houghton, savouring the intimate atmosphere and eclectic sounds. As DJs, you’ll find them DJing by the beach at Westival, blending genres seamlessly and igniting the dance floor field.

Their musical influences range from Bonobo, Bicep, Job Jobse, Joy Orbison, Four Tet and on and on, there isn't enough time to mention every influence but each contribute to their evolving sound.

Whether reminiscing about Bristol's breakbeat & Brighton’s garage scene or getting lost in deep house daydreams on the Welsh coast, Sonic Juncture's music is a testament to their diverse inspirations and unwavering passion for electronic music.

The guys have released on labels such as Chequered Wax, Fresh Take Records, Andras Record, NOIDEA, Remmah & now have their first release with Dealt With Records.
