וַיִּפְרְקֵ֥נוּ מִצָּרֵ֑ינוּ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

Sheb’shifleinu zakhar lanu ki l’olam khasdo
Va’yifrekeinu mi’tzareinu ki l’olam khasdo

When we were in the lowest of places, G!d/Existence remembered us, because there is always goodness and compassion in the world. We were separated from our sorrows and constriction because the Divine's goodness and compassion is eternal.

Oseh shalom bimromav
hu ya'aseh shalom aleinu
v'al kol yisrael v'al kol yoshvei tevel 
v'imru: amen

May the one who makes peace/wholeness on high bring peace/wholeness to us and to all of Yisrael (those who wrestle with G!d/Hashem/the Divine/Spirit)and to all the peoples of the earth. 
And we say: Amen

Oseh Shalom

Anyone who was in NFTY or a Jewish youth group in the lates 2000s/early 2010s has probably been in a service where Fix You by Coldplay was used in the place of Mi Shebeirach. Heal Us Now, by Leon Sher, is wrapped up in a lot of teen choir nostalgia for me as well. Put them together, and it’s a healing mash up that has just the reflective quality I’ve been holding onto at this point in the pandemic.

Cantor Josh Breitzer has served Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn since 2011. Recently listed by The Jewish Daily Forward as one of the top new Jewish music voices in its "Soundtrack of Our Spirit" series, Cantor Breitzer has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Merkin Concert Hall. For the past several years, he has appeared with the New York Festival of Song in their annual “A Goyishe Christmas to You” program and has previously enjoyed significant collaborations with Pulitzer Prize-winner Yehudi Wyner and the late author/composer Jack Gottlieb. As a dedicated and passionate Jewish music educator, Cantor Breitzer has coached young artists at NYC Opera, The Juilliard School, and Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. He has also taught at the Academy of Jewish Religion, the URJ Kutz Camp, and the North American Jewish Choral Festival. Cantor Breitzer is on faculty at the HUC-JIR Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music and is a vice president of the American Conference of Cantors.
