I was in the UK last year after a massive summer of touring, caught the train down to Brighton with some friends, and ended up in an incredible studio overlooking the beach. I was missing home a bit, but feeling really inspired and wanted to write a feel-good record, reminding myself of the importance of saving time for the ones I care and love. Whilst (In the studio) overlooking the same site Fatboy Slim hosted his ‘Big Beach Boutique’, I was thinking about the UK’s dance music history, it inspired me, and decided to lean into the idea of writing something that sounds sampled, but isn't. I often like to write records completely on my own, but it feels so perfect to have written this one alongside some good pals — Clementine Douglas, Caitlin Stubbs & Toby Scott.

CAPTAIN ACCIDENT - Simon Says

Black Roots have produced, written, composed and recorded some highly acclaimed songs during their long career. One of these is ‘Move On’.

The song is about a relationship that has broken down, in which the man realises that his partner has fallen in love with someone else and that he feels that he has no choice but to ‘Move On’. How many of us have faced this dilemma in life’s journey?

First released on their debut vinyl outing simply called ‘4 Track Demo 12”’ back in 1981 it was picked up by the legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel and played on national radio. This helped to propel the band to prominence. Then it appeared on their debut album ‘Black Roots’ that came out in 1983. Since it has featured on some re-releases notably on French label Makasound’s ‘On the Frontline’ and ‘In Session’, and Sugar Shack’s ‘Reggae Singles Anthology’. It is one of the band’s anthems. This is a song that is recognised world-wide and is undoubtedly one of their top 10 best songs of all time.

So it seemed a reasonable proposition for the band to bring it back into the studio some 35 years on to rework it, redefine it, modernise the sound and then release it. And here it is as a digital download only offering, 5 mixes of this wonderful song recorded back in July 2013, once again at J&amp;J Studio, produced by Jeff Spencer and the band, and mixed by Louis Beckett. One of the cuts features Jah Garvey, an upcoming artist, also based in Bristol, who lends his lyrical skills to give added meaning and poignancy to this song. 

The band has made a video to promote this release produced by 8th Sense Media, a film production company based in St Paul's Bristol that the band have worked closely with on several projects including 'Ghetto Feel' and 'Son of Man' .

Adam Parsons AKA Captain Accident is a multi-instrumentalist reggae/ska/soul artist from Cardiff who creates a unique blend of lovers rock, roots reggae, ska and rocksteady at his home studio. 

This sound is brought to life on stage with the help of a collective of musicians known as “The Disasters”. The energetic live show is guaranteed to get people up and dancing. With soulful vocals, soaring twin guitars and a truly infectious groove, there’s no standing still when Captain Accident and his clumsy sidekicks hit the stage.
 
Captain Accident currently has 2 self produced albums under his belt - “Pick up the Microphone” (2010) and “Slippin Up” (2013) with a third album “Wake & break” scheduled for release in July 2016.
 
Through intensive touring of the UK and Europe, as well as featuring on Jaya The Cat’s most recent album “The New International Sound of Hedonism” alongside Itch Fox, of The King Blues, more and more people are becoming aware of Captain Accident’s unique sound. As well as receiving regular airplay both nationally and internationally, Captain Accident’s second album “Slippin Up” earned a nomination as "one to watch" at the European Urban Music Awards 2013 and the continually growing fanbase in the UK and mainland Europe, evidenced through increasing numbers during tours is showing a good sign that the music is spreading nicely.
Captain Accident and The Disasters have thus far been lucky enough to share a stage with such artists as Toots & The Maytals, Less Than Jake, Aswad, The Skints, Prince Fatty & Horseman, Pama International, Mad Professor, Bad Manners, The Toasters, Sonic Boom Six, Neville Staple, Fishbone, The Wurzels, David Rodigan and countless others. Since their emergence on the reggae scene, they have become a staple part of the UK festival circuit, having appeared at Glastonbury Festival, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown Fair as well as several others.
 
Captain Accident’s third self-produced album, “Wake and Break” is set to be released in July 2016, with tours around the UK and mainland Europe in the pipeline, including various festival appearances. 2016 is looking like a smasher of a year for Cardiff’s Clumsiest Reggae artist and his entourage of hazards!!
