Step into the world of Gavin Rochford, an artist rooted in rural Ireland. For this Schirmchendrink episode, Gavin takes you on an audible journey inspired by his homeland's spirit - Poitín.

"Poitín," meaning little pot, is an unaged spirit and testament to Irish craftiness. Poitín is traditionally distilled using a pot still and comparable to American Moonsine, but crafted from a variety of ingredients, such as barley, potatoes, and even unconventional choices like milk or tree bark. 

Gavin's love for Melodic House has now found a home in Toronto. He's swiftly risen through the ranks, culminating in a win in Henry Saiz's Natura Sonoris label competition in 2020. Gavin's rise in the scene has seen him sharing the decks with the likes of Sebastien Léger, Matthias Meyer, Guy J and more. His tracks have graced labels like Akbal Music, TRYBESof or Tale + Tone and earned the support of industry heavyweights like John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo.

In this mix, Gavin Rochford crafts a delicious narrative that bridges his Irish roots and Canadian present, a blend of melodic and deep house that encapsulates the spirit of the sonic storyteller. He weaves the tale of Poitín, and in his music, you'll find the soul of Irish moonshine, echoing through the hills of rural Ireland and the vibrant streets of Toronto.
