Creating his own label Beaufort Beats in late 2019, it has already seen releases from some of Melbourne’s most well-renowned acts. Exciting times lay ahead for the newly-born imprint.

CaptureCast 002 • Rob Lewis

CaptureCast Episode 3, bringing you the 3am bush techno stage atmosphere from the man himself, Mico.

Mico's mission is to promote freedom, consent, creativity, and community by hosting and supporting gatherings where these values come to life on the dance floor and echo throughout the world.
He and his best friends created the Red Moon Tribe, a dance music family which gained a reputation for throwing epic bush parties and warehouse raves. They then found a home for the tribe at My Aeon, where they have been hosting their monthly event Renegade since June 2018.
On the decks, Mico is a disciple of the deep and progressive. This minimal mix is heftier than his previous selections. He dreams of the days where he would freak out to this kind of music in the bush with his mates, the way it's meant to be.

CaptureCast 003 • Mico

Suckmusic  is an independent electronic music record label founded in Melbourne Australia, 2010. To date 50 + Melbourne  musicians, music producers and DJ's have released on the label, alongside an ever-growing roster of international artists. 

The unprecedented circumstances the world has faced this year as a result of COVID-19 have impacted every aspect of our lives and changed the world as we know it.  It is still uncertain when things will begin to resemble some sort of normality in the music and hospitality industry and then, once it eventually gets going, what that will look, feel and sound like. it.

As a record label we will continue to do what we have been doing for the past 10 years and release new and interesting music. Given that most of the label and artist income is generated from the performance of our songs by DJ’s who play the songs at clubs and festivals, our artists have seen their income decimated as these events have ground to a halt. Many artists have also been overlooked by governments and most do not received any kind of income support despite the challenges they now face. Therefore at Suckmusic we will look to exhaust all alternative avenues to support artists signed to our label through this extremely challenging time.

We understand that many people are doing it tough at the moment, but if you have enjoyed our music over the years or can appreciate and respect just how important a vibrant electronic music culture is and you have a little to spare, your support will mean everything and will help our artists make ends meet until the show literally gets back on the road and income starts coming back in again. Every person who donates will be invited to join our exclusive Suckmusic Pre-release Promotional List and be granted early access to all future label releases for the next 10 years, along with download links to the Suckmusic 10 Year DJ mixes upon its release in August.

The funds we received will be distributed equally between the 8 artists who have an agreement with the label (excluding label founder Nick Coleman who is also a signed artist), and we hope to achieve our goal of $10,000 by October.

In addition, to mark our 10th year in what has been an extraordinary 2020, we briefly pause for reflection before looking into the future. So it is with the greatest of pleasure that we present to you the labels first mix compilation - Suckmusic 10 Years. This compilation of music, presented in the form of 2 DJ mixes and a Coda, embodies everything the label was, is and will continue to be. A big thank you to Spacey Space, Mount Mike and label founder Nick Coleman, who’s mixes encapsulate the musical depth and diversity of the label’s 150+ song catalogue and first 10 years.  

For the remainder of 2020, 100 percent of Suckmusic's share of sales of this compilation will be donated to all artists who's songs appear on the Suckmusic 10 Year mix compilations.

Two stalwarts of Revolver, Flip3k and Jimmy le Mac share a long history as regular DJ's at The Late Show. Together as Common Underground they have hosted a slew of launch parties on the stage for releases including 'GO!' (LHR) and '27 Calibre' (Punks).

Off the back of ‘Rave Track 5’ featured on the ‘As We Know It’ compilation they deliver 2 tracks that revellers of the stage would have heard pre-March.

Happy Accident was born, as the name suggests, from a mishap during a studio session mid-last year in which the animated bassline, thunderous tom fills and infectious laugh came together to form the basis of this highly addictive groove. A track that continually builds throughout and doesn’t fail to deliver.

Lil Sumthin is a straight shooting no-nonsense dance floor number - remember those places? Yes we miss those days too!

CaptureCast Episode 4 welcomes a loving duo from the Capture Crew, Penelope Scarlett & Dan Welsh.

Hailing from the rolling hills of Melbourne’s north east, Penelope Scarlett and Dan Welsh are the new power couple of House & Melodic Techno. 
Penelope is a melodic mistress, with a keen ear for all things deep, dark or dirty. Dan is a house and disco king, recently diving head first into heavies. 
Between them, they’ve chalked up sets everywhere from OneSixOne to Burning Seed, and together, they’re combining to bring a perfect blend of melodic techno.
With this set, the duo serve up atmospheric sunset fun, and top things off with a dark and chuggy finale dipping into nightfall.

CaptureCast 004 • Penelope Scarlett & Dan Welsh

CaptureCast Episode 5 blesses your ears with some furry psychedelic house from your main B, BrownBear.

Having made his debut behind the decks in 2014, BrownBear has quickly developed into a fixture of the Melbourne house/techno scene, with his unique sound seamlessly combining psychedelic grooves & melodies with infectious basslines.
BrownBear's dedication to electronic music and energy behind the decks has gained him residencies at internationally recognized audio institutions Killing Time Bar (KT) and Revolver Upstairs.
KT is where his collective/boutique label Hindsight Music, who have been lucky enough to call Killing Time their home for 4 years now, run their weekly Friday minimal & tech night “OVER".
Aside from being regularly featured on line-ups for renowned Melbourne dancefloors such as Day Spa @ Pawn & Co, Onesixone and Circus Sunday's, he is also an integral part of local crews Pelican Villa & Melbourne Dance Music Academy.
After playing his debut set at one of the infamous Breakfast Club day parties, a warmup set for German maestro SuperFlu at UNO Danceclub soon followed.
He has since been asked to warm the dancefloor for international powerhouses such as Andhim, Patrick Topping, Shiba San & Madmotormiquel as well as being invited to play at various festivals across Australia and New Zealand.
The progression of this mix provides euphoric synths, strong vocals and absolute grooves that can take you away to dancing within the sun rays.

CaptureCast 005 • BrownBear

CaptureCast Episode 6 brings you a good friend of the crew and all round mad dawg, Jozef Conor. 

Refreshingly unique in his approach, brutally honest in his signature sound and ever so creative in his approach, Melbourne man by way of Sydney Jozef Conor has put in the hard yards during the lockdown in 2020 to evolve his sound. Time spent hibernating in his studio through conjuring up new cuts and revisiting old projects to breathe new life into them. One thing is for sure, this year forcing him away from his usually busy DJ touring schedule has been put to good use in his studio. Progressing his craft expanding his knowledge and skill base in electronic music and focussing his energy in a positive way, Jozef has put together a slew of tasty tracks and is set for a healthy release schedule on his own Jozzman Trax and other internationally renowned labels for 2021.

This set is a showcase of the true, Jozzman.
Feel good energy and as the journey progresses, a triumph to the next level to conclude with a satisfied finish.
