Carbon Elements:

With flavours of soul, funk, hip-hop, D&B, and old-school rave, this trio of Sheffield originals has staying power. A firm background in Sheffield’s underground party scene, Luke Jones, Stevie D, and Frances McNamara have been doing their own thing for around 20 years, joining forces around 10 years ago as Carbon Elements.

Luke, aka “Renkei”, has been DJing funk and D&B for 20 years and has rocked many a dance floor. Luke is on beats duty here, with his deep and heavy cuts reaching far into your soul and shaking your booty to its core.

Stevie D, aka “MC Navarone”, influenced by conscious hip-hop and old-school rave culture, has taken his unique brand to more parties and festivals than we have room to mention… slick delivery, consistently fresh lyrics, and a reach-for-the-sky party vibe echoing the rich tapestry of his influences. 

Frances McNamara, aka“FranSoul”, this soulstress extraordinaire has been a regular in many Sheffield funk, soul, and disco bands, but nowhere has her voice sounded so spiritually at home. Think of your favourite gritty soul diva,  add a smatter of cool… and you’re halfway there.

Fusing these elements together, we find the whole is greater than the sum of its parts: Carbon Elements are a heady mix of musical influences rooted in their love of real music, who are just as comfortable with down-tempo, soul-drenched hip-hop as they are in full throttle D&B party mode.
