And I Love Her

Hi all, here is another new Beatles cover we just finished. This one is called Wait, a bit more obscure, from the Rubber soul album. From Paul's recollection, this one was close to a 50-50 collaboration. John and Paul sing the harmonies in the verses, with Paul doing the bridge section vocals himself. On the 3rd and also the final verse, there is also a higher harmony which Paul overdubbed in certain sections to make it 3-part harmony there, the song also ends in 3-part harmony. Story with this is if you listen to the Rubber Soul album this track sounds a bit different than the others. That's because the Beatles originally recorded the basic parts for this during the recording sessions for the Help album in the Spring of 1965, five months before the Rubber Soul sessions in October-November. When the time came for putting together the Help album they decided to leave it off the album. In November of 65' during the last days of recording the deadline to finish the album had come and they were still 3 songs short. Paul came up with one(called You Won't See Me, it's an ok song, not one of his best). John came up with Girl(an excellent song, one of his better ones. The fact that he could come up with a song that good so quick and under tremendous time pressure is remarkable) For the 3rd and final song to complete the album they pulled the 5 month old Wait out of the vault, and recorded some new vocals, volume pedal guitar, Tambourine and Maracas, and the album was complete. Neither John nor Paul seems to have considered it one of their really good ones, more like album filler. I like the harmonies in it and the chord changes, but certainly it's not one of their great songs or super well known ones. From time to time I like doing some of their slightly lesser known tracks though, so Bob and I wanted to do it. Just like the Beatles version, the verses are single-tracked vocals, and the bridge sections are double-tracked. Bob and I do the verse vocals, then I do the bridge sections and I overdubbed the highest 3rd part harmony in the final verses and ending the song. Charlie is on Drums on this. For bass I used my Rickenbacker, and for the guitar parts both rhythm and the volume pedal parts I used one of Rory's Fender Strats. I also overdubbed the Tambourine and Maracas. Anyways, hope you like and plenty more coming. I have several that are almost done, a few that are done also but not Eq'd, Mixed or Mastered yet.
