Since 2015 Autarkic has been releasing music on different labels and playing live all over Europe.

Family memory and affection...
"Poema," performed by Ney Matogrosso, has a special origin: it was written by Cazuza at age 17 as a gift for his paternal grandmother. This context brings a layer of tenderness and nostalgia to the song, reflected in the lyrics, which address childhood fear and the comfort found in family affection. The line "the past brings me a memory / of the time I was a child / and fear was a reason to cry / an excuse for a hug or comfort" shows how fear, in childhood, served as an opportunity to receive affection and protection, something that is lost over time, but whose memory remains, warming the present.
The song explores the passage of time and the feeling of losing something "warm and naive" that fades away, but still lights the way, even when it becomes "dark and cold." The verse about the embrace felt in the dark, which is no longer fear, but rather "something of yours that stayed with me," suggests that the affection and protection received in childhood remain present in a subtle and comforting way in adulthood. The fact that the poem was kept for decades and only revealed after the grandmother's death reinforces the idea that family memories and affections are lasting, spanning generations and serving as support in the face of the uncertainties of the present.

This month Carhartt WIP Radio brings you a show by French DJ, producer and label-owner Jennifer Cardini, consisting of moving material from her label Correspondant. Taking the name from her legendary residency at Paris' Rex Club, Correspondant has released music from artists like Man Power, Vox Low, Javi Redondo, Red Axes, Uriah Klapter and Borusiade. Stylistically the label delves into various electronic styles and tempos, such as techno, house, acid, disco, downbeat, electro, synth-pop, ambient and atmospheric new wave. Before Cardini established Correspondant in 2010, she had already enjoyed a longstanding career as a DJ, with residencies in Parisian clubs like Rex and Le Pulp, and regular guest performances in renowned nightspots like Fabric. As a producer, she has dropped deep, writhing tracks on labels such as Kill The DJ, Crosstown Rebels, and her own brainchild, Correspondant. Enjoy.
