Gottwood Mix #75 - Marlie

For the past 12 months, Lebanese artist and Fantôme de Nuit label founder Nesta has been a constant in the world music scene. Either via his own parties, guest performances around the globe, or his productions littering the finest labels, Nesta has covered a lot of ground. Nesta has of course been a driving force in the Middle East and Europe for much longer than that, with his label running for more than a decade now.

As well as his label, Nesta has also been responsible for throwing some of the finest parties around and for our next InSession edition we find Nesta in charge of the decks at his most recent party. Taking place at Berlin’s Hoppetosse, Nabih has hooked up with close friends of Trommel Melina and Jakob Seidensticker and their We R The Aliens label for a joint trip. In true Nesat fashion, he starts deep and shifts through the gears with ease. Moving through deep house to techier moods, but the magic occurs when he circles back to drop those sweet vocally curve balls that nobody sees coming. A cosmically soulful adventure, if ever there was one, that is the appeal of a Nesta set.

The pairing of Irish artist Trent Voyage and vocalist Elena Moroder has exploded onto the scene, and their slinky house jams have captured the hearts of the underground. With their joint output coming almost exclusively via Alexandre Skancke’s excellent Quirk imprint, their debut release “Parasol” set the stage for one of the releases of 2024 in “Aquamarine” and the rest, they say, is history. 

Recorded live at Riga’s Penthaus Calling party series, the live duo glides through an hour of the sexiest deep house to emerge from the underground to rapturous whoops from the crowd. The combination of deep basslines, dreamy melodies and equally dreamy vocal musings from Elena, they ensure that this house sound again has a champion in the underground. Feel good, yet thoroughly introspective, Trent Voyage and Elena Moroder is the shot in the arm that classic house has been calling out for.
