Chapultepec (“grasshopper hill” in Nahuatl) has been a vital part of Mexico City for almost 600 years. A hydraulic marvel designed by the texcocan Tlatoani Nezahualcóyotl to work as a lung in one of the biggest cities on the planet. 

Throughout 19 tracks Lao explores the imaginative and timeless possibilities of Chapultepec in the form of deep melodies, organic textures, and tribal percussive patterns influenced by Jungle and Rave. The album is a homage to CDMX, the Mexican electronic music scene, and its dancefloor for the last 15 years.

LATIGAZO Vol. 1 is the first release of a compilation series that seeks to show the
musical vision of Latigazo and celebrate the emerging club scene in Tijuana.
This first edition brought together 6 artists from Tijuana who, as the only creative
requirement, were asked to share a small selection of samples to form a sample pack
that would serve as source material for the creation of these tracks and as a
representation of the amalgamation of sounds happening in the border city.

Benfika nos presenta su más reciente EP, 'Poco Centro', una amalgama sonora que entrelaza los sonidos de la música electrónica global de club contemporánea con la rica diversidad musical de América Latina.

Con "Poco Centro", Benfika demuestra su destreza al fusionar una amplia gama de influencias musicales, desdibujando los límites entre géneros. Cada track es una exploración de texturas y ritmos, con capas de sintetizadores digitales, samples de voces de reggaeton y melodías etéreas que evocan el trance de los años 90, ofreciendo así un enfoque emocional del latin club.

La mitad del EP está diseñada para hacerte bailar,y perderte en la música. La otra mitad te lleva en un viaje introspectivo y emocional. A pesar de estas diferencias, ambas partes comparten un universo sonoro único, gracias al cuidadoso diseño de sonido y la selección diversa de elementos musicales, lo que refleja la noción de una esencia descentralizada. Un universo que explora el concepto de unidad y equidad entre el núcleo y el conjunto.

Además, "Poco Centro" presenta una impresionante selección de remixes realizados por algunos de lxs productores más destacados de la escena electrónica latinoamericana y global, incluyendo a Florentino (UK), Loris (MX), SEWA (USA), DJ Deep RH (Venezuela) y DJ Babatr (Venezuela).

This EP represents the end of a stage and everything the artist learned after 5 years of living in Buenos Aires, on an artistic and personal level. Hit rock bottom to re-emerge in another form and return to the mountains to find calm again. 

It is a complex work that has a lot of catharsis within it. Suddenly the beginning of something different is also reflected, like a bridge between the old and the new that one goes through in life.

Este EP representa el fin de una etapa, todo lo aprendido después de 5 años de vivir en Buenos Aires, a nivel artístico y personal. Tocar fondo para resurgir en otra forma y regresar a las sierras para volver a encontrar la calma. 

Es un trabajo complejo que tiene mucha catarsis en su interior. De pronto se plasma también el comienzo de algo distinto, como un puente entre lo viejo y lo nuevo que uno transita en la vida.
