This came out of a jam with my friend Neuman back in the fall of 2011. We briefly formed a band for the sole purpose of playing one show. We practiced for a few weeks, played the show, and then permanently disbanded. It was fun!

Fabulous Beasts - Kickstarter Sketches

This is an early concept from the development of Mini Metro. I was trying to figure out what the music might be like in the game, and one idea I had was to write a very simple piece of music that transpired over the course of one in-game week, that also captured the ups and downs of a stereotypical week, commuting each morning weekday to and fro, partying on friday night, hungover on saturday, etc. Each hour is about 0.83 seconds long.

One Week

My first go at variation form. It is between a constant melody and constant ostinato form of variation. Each time the two main themes are repeated a different instrument is added with a new contribution to the piece. When writing this I had the impression of a forest in my mind.

The piece begins with harp and clarinet, the second time the themes are played, a flute harmonizes with the clarinet. The third time around a new ostinato accompanies the harp on the cello.
