A song about the discrepancy between the idealization of a distorted individualism, constantly conveyed by contemporary mass media, and the actual standardization, or globalization, of human behaviours and actions that can be found today in Western or Westernized societies…

In loving memory of Massimo De Gasperi (1967-1999), a great musician and friend. There's currently no trace of his work on the internet, unfortunately, but he'd published an album with a German label a few months before passing away, if I remember correctly. It sounded way ahead of his time, and it still does today. I own a copy of it, but I'm not entitled to share it. I hope someone will do, someday.
He once called me while he was working on his album. One of his numbers' title was "Dead Hendrix", and he asked me if I could supply him with any recorded announcement of Jimi's death. He was planning to extrapolate a few words from it and use the samples on his track. Sadly I couldn't satisfy his request. I used to own dozens of Hendrix LPs and tapes, always loved and played his music, but I'd never been a collector. At the time, things like that couldn't be found on the internet.
A shot of heroin laced with strychnine killed him at 32.
In November 2019, a common friend asked me to join Massimo's 20th death anniversary party: "Come over and play", he said... I had to laugh, because he hadn't considered the fact that I was nearly 1000 miles away from home, and couldn't really afford to travel exclusively to join that party. So I recorded this tune, "That's Mean", very quickly, and about a week later I sent him the file. I easily found that Hendrix death announcement on YouTube, sampled a couple of sentences and used them in this song. He was so happy with it, included it in the music set for the night and told me that Massimo was very likely smiling from heaven while listening to it. I really hope this tune will make you all smile too.

Sun's Out

Vincent van Gogh passed away July 29th, 1890,
“Vincent’s Letter” was released July 29th, 2020

I figured there’s no better time than 130 years later…

When I was very young, I had dreams about his paintings. 
 His paintings inspired a deep love in me for art at an early age, and I wanted to be a painter like him

 Music won me over, but I remember being about 10 or so - when I first started playing music a lot - and I promised this self-portrait painting of Van Gogh that I’d write a song (or several) for him that a lot of people would hear.  Yea I made a verbal promise to a painting.  
It wasn’t the first or last time...  I was a weird kid.

The funny thing is?  This isn't even Van Gogh, as I much later found out.  It's "Dr. Gatchet", who was a physician who was treating Van Gogh.  Vincent painted him, and they actually look a lot alike!  But I made the promise to this painting, so here it is

I deeply recognize the disparity in ways natural and human disasters affect different groups of people and the need for greater equality of care. I also recognize that I live with many privileges that others do not have. And with these recognitions, I still believe there is space for us all to have a gratitude practice while passionately endeavoring for positive change.  

I am grateful for all the accumulated creativity and work of our ancestors that lead to the eventual creation of the internet and SoundCloud which has enabled us to remain artistically connected during this period of increased physical isolation.

Empty Streets

Firstly on easy listening 6/4 bars, I cut some notes out of the main theme so as to give it dynamism, and finally obtained a prime amalgam of 17 quarter notes. I hid any recognizable thing in the accompaniment, and for the organic lines (voice and guitars) I tried the strong rhythm would not fix too much the melodies, first paying a lot of attention, and finally ... just letting me go.

In New York City I played with Bands like, "King"s East", "In The Service Of", "Fist of Facts", "Desire", "Dense Undergrowth"," "Matahari", "Like Wow", "Devil's Breakfast", "Muse Mob", "Atlantis 3000", "Monster", "Zenith", "Andromeda Crash" "Night Shade", I also collaborated with Hector Zazou, Harold Budd, Elliott Levin, Dennis Charles, Tetsu Inoue, Bettina Koster. Barbara Gogan, Salvatore Principato, Ken Man, Scott Hartley, Thomas Truax and many others. For many years I also wrote Jingles for a lot of products like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mc Donalds, Toyota, Kodak, Payless Shoes, Rothman's, Salsa Tabasco, JC Penny, Liberty Science Center, American Heart Association, MCI, Reebok, AT&T, Fanta, Play Movil, etc, I also made music for Viacom writing music for cartoon networks, Bravo TV, Chanel 1, and MTV.
