Groove 1 (negra 150) / featuring Mat Ward in bass

This is a collaboration with the talented Karin-Maria Brunner from Switzerland. She composed the music and asked me if I would be interested in doing vocals and some guitar. I decided to write the lyrics in the Swiss dialect of German. Karin made it easy for me to write lyrics and do some acoustic guitar with her wonderfully composed song. Here are the lyrics in Swiss German and then English. The song art is actually a photo of where Karin used to live in the mountains. Hope you enjoy!

Very easy listening, soft and atmospheric fumbling on my piano. 

This is simply improvisation and experimentation on chord progressions I am working on for one of my most recent (and on going) compositions. 

The piece the theme is derived from is still under construction but I hope to share it soon.

P.S. For the wonderers, photo of the moon taken through a telescope in a beautiful garden in East Malling.

Valhöll, in Norse mythology, is where all men who died with honor in battle go to until Ragnarök, the Fate of the Gods. This golden fortress is Óðinn's hall. Reaching Valhalla was a goal for most Norse warriors and has been called the "Viking Heaven".

I wanted to amplify this momentum with my version especially in the second part with heavy rock riffs.

For the 31st Solar Kama Sutra song I decided to challenge myself a bit and do something in 7/4 time.  I tried remembering a band I heard do that and thought, "Isn't Pink Floyd's "Money" in 7/4 time?"  I remembered hearing it and thinking it was...

...  Turns out it is!  So for that reason I thought of Pink Floyd, and tried to do a Pink Floydish sound.    It's also a nod to Radiohead's "Pyramid Song".  I tried to capture the same feeling that song gives me, but with Solar Kama Sutra this time. 
(by the way, Solar Kama Sutra has always been just one person.  It's just the name for what I call the music)

Since Radiohead already used "Pyramid" which is well-known since ancient Egypt to be the coolest shape, I had to go with something else.  "Sphere Song" and "Cube Song" ?...  Well...  Those song titles just aren't gonna work....   Maybe "Dodecahedron Song"?....  Hmm... That actually sounds pretty catchy...  Feel free to use it!  

 My vocals are used more heavily on this track than it seems.  Throughout the track I tried to make my vocals sound like guitars and other instruments

  And definitely hats off to Pink Floyd for making a hit song in a 7/4 time signature.   How many times has that been done before?!

And of course, hats off to Stonehenge.  The ultimate inspiration for this track

Gary decided it was time to get the ‘It’s us, the neighbours’ band back together again for another crazy, wacky outing.
He sent Nick and myself his latest ditty and asked if we would like to contribute, obviously we both agreed.
Nick and I worked alone at first and then traded ideas for the outro section. Nick added his wild voice box solo and unmistakable fretboard scorching runs then finished off the piece with a melodic E-Bow outro, I did my bit, then we sent our contributions to Gary who pulled it all together with a stellar production.
It’s been great fun and a real pleasure to collaborate with the guys again, thanks to Gary for asking me to contribute.
