Almost every song I post started ages ago. I remember writing the lyrics to this song in the gym I go to during summer vacation. Good times. The lyrics were initially inspired by my family's continual attempt to live consciously to better the planet and better our personal health. I pretty much don't buy anything, so that is one way I help, lol. Gotta try to leave the spirit and the planet better than when we came. I sent the original tracks over to Couch King some time ago after working with him on a couple of his projects. I've always wanted to do a hip hop track with some rapping but it's the one thing I haven't gotten down yet. I love what he did both musically and with the subject matter. Plus what a sweetheart to work with. I got it 99% done but then got really busy and left him hanging for far too long. After some gentle prodding, I finally finished. Thanks again Marquis! :)

Fulani features chants from the Fulani (Fulbe) people, closer from the Wodaabe tribe from Nigeria, that still nowadays lives as nomadic cattle sheperds. 

Hadza features a stringed bow and some occasional vocals from the Hadza people from Tanzania. The Hadza, who live as hunters and gatherers until today, hunt mainly with bows and arrows, as seen on the cover. The bow which they use for killing can be used as a musical bow aswell, played with the mouth or a stick. In this archaic form, it belongs to the oldest musical instruments in known history. In this case a resonator has been added, probably a calabash, to make the bow resonate louder.

The two tracks come from a series which’s work titles where “Stur”, “Stur2” and “Stur3”, which resemble the way of producing quite well: smacking drums, a dirty sample and a simple sinewave subbass. This rough and reduced way of producing led me to this very dry and abstract songs, which I feel have and strong, present and livley drive.

The name Djouma was inspired by a sample in the mentioned third track which is not on the EP, but appears to be a male firstname. So at this point: shout out to all them Djoumas out there! Y'all have a cool name!

Hadza

Massive thanks again to Bitzone and DeeP. for keeping the energy going on this projects. Big up to RS Frawstakwa on keeping connected and always being down to bust some rhymes on another track. I have been digging not playing any role in the music production department and just laying down vocals.

“It Ain’t Looking Good,” similar to “I Don’t Owe Ya,” and “Deeper” are influenced by my daily commute to work and the neighborhoods I drive through. The vibrations I was mostly influenced by were very different when I lived in the bay area and worked in Silicon Valley. Santa Cruz had a slightly similar vibration to my current commute, but it was definitely more sunny, positive, and new age. I also suppose that the lyrics and vibe of these tracks are also influenced by the current societal focus on Mental Health. 

As always, I appreciate you all listening and commenting and supporting the music on my page. What a long strange trip it’s been. I wish everyone greater and deeper knowing and appreciation of themself.

I am excited to announce the premiere of the ‘Cornflakes’ music video and single. It began as a bedroom project in the summer of 2017 but continued to grow and develop through my time last fall in Berlin. 
This new song, made up of three distinct parts, is a musical journey through alluring beats, glitched out math rock, and shadowy electronica. In close collaboration with Director Max Novick and his visual team, we developed the provocative imagery to complement each phase of the song. The Lynchian narrative follows the story of a young man who's visit to the grocery store takes a strange psychological turn into the depths of alienation.
