Here's my Ocotber 2022 show for @Noodsradio This time I dedicated myself to Digital Hardcore. In the early 90s a group of musicians got together in Berlin and formed a label and genre under this name. Fast breakbeats, techno, noise, wave and punk were combined with political messages. Just in time to become my youth soundtrack. However, under a thick distorted layer of aggressive sounds on B-sides you can find many textures of jazz, hip-hop, Berlin school, old horror movies, post-punk and ambient. I have selected my favorites for you in this radio show. Be ready for a swim in a sea of noise.

August the issue of Suspect Radio on Noods  with Noize Creator aka Stefan Senf. Stefan and I compiled a collection of electronic music from Dresden and beyond. Growing up with music from the early 2000s in Dresden was super interesting and exciting for me because there were a lot of off locations, music bars (like l’houp), raves in the woods and cool record stores - open spaces for all kinds of music. I was (and still am) addicted  to fast breakbeats, jungle and breakcore - at some point in this era I met Stefan and he introduced me to a lot of weird music and nice people. Uncanny Valley and its satellites emerged from this intense period and together with Alexander Dorn aka Credit 00 we released some gems of this time.

Starting in the mid-nineties, there were a lot of short-lived off-locations in Dresden’s vibrant Drum’n’Bass-Scene which were perfect surroundings for those dark-mechanical tones. Carl Suspect dived deeply into this sometimes shady industrial setting. After he got from Broken Beat and Warp Electronica into Techno and especially early Kanzleramt Records, it were those parties which were groundbreaking for his own musical perception. He discovered that electronic music can only be intense, if it lets you forget about its originator, genre limits and conventions. Thus, to create this kind of listening experience is his first concern when he is playing dance music.

He’s also one of the Uncanny Valley-chiefs, managing not only the everyday work but especially the label’s visual presentation. Doing that, he always strives to realise the initial idea of the label;. to create a network for interaction between artists of different disciplines whereas it doesn’t matter if a record, a flyer or a video work will be the result of this interaction.
