Hushed empty by the fists of her father's platoon
Each of them passing 'round halves of truth
The whole of which she only knew
When she waded in shivering, broken and blue
Slippinh it's proof through the chip in her tooth
Those stories of old, we know to be true
We abandoned in favour of cities of wicker
but wicker'll fray;
The daydreams they're made of 
and the troubles they make,
So she's burned at the stakefor laying it plain
The truth that we all know deep down we've betrayed.
