The official trademark name is josh cannabis sativa™, as that is the name known WORLDWIDE, thanks to Myspace. Now, I hope you know you're in for some intense twisted lyrical pleasure. It's not just all insanity, either. These are all thoughts in his head...

josh cannabis sativa™ provides music simply for your entertainment, and every once in awhile for your education. That's it. He started writing and recording rap music to be a new way to display his poetry; to get things off his chest; to help people relate with their feelings of anger, depression, love, and/or anything else of which he may speak. He may speak of hate and violence, but none of his music is meant to promote hate or incite violence. Any lyrics which give any idea of gratuitous violence is not about promotion of such violence. It's about expressing and sharing thoughts and feelings. josh cannabis sativa™ does not believe in doing or promoting anything immoral. Just because he may talk about feeling like chopping your head off, or having sex with your mom, you shouldn't necessarily believe it's gonna happen. That's not what josh cannabis sativa™ is all about. If you can't comprehend the difference between fantasy and reality, perhaps you shouldn't be listening to his music, or much music at all for that matter.

Furthermore, you may notice there are a lot of vulgarities sprinkled throughout the verses. As you're reading through this description, you see there's not one, and that is because there's no need for it here. Yes, in the lyrics and poems there is a need for it because expressing emotions is about stating how you feel to get it off your chest. If anger is felt with vulgar and profane thoughts, that is what's written; end of story.

josh cannabis sativa™ has been a poet since quite young, and always loved to sing. He's written countless poems since his teen years, and joined school choir in 7th grade. Immediately, his musical ability was recognized, and the next year he was selected for the Iowa OPUS Boys' Honor Choir, 1 of 150 boys selected out of thousands of nominations to participate in that prestigious event attended by people from all over the Midwest states of the US.

He started writing music in 2002 when he met Backwordz, a local rap artist who learned about his singing abilities, and wanted josh to perform a chorus line on one his group's songs. They hit it off, and it was then that josh cannabis sativa™ started to make his mark on the music industry.

He started out only singing chorus lines, but very soon gained an interest in putting his own poetry to music; creating his own rap verses. In summer of 2004, he helped Backwordz's group, Vital Hourz, and their independent record label, Spot Blown, with funding to release a compilation album including a song, called "It's The Sioux," by Vital Hourz featuring himself on the chorus. After that, he released his debut solo effort, "Just The Way That It Is" at no cost to a very limited audience with permission to share it freely.

All in all, he's written numerous songs, recorded 1 album, has 2 new albums in progress, and performed at multiple shows in the Sioux City area, which includes being an opening act for Bone Thugs 'N Harmony at Tomfoolery's on April 20th, 2012.
