Plums presents EP 02, the first release from the Boston and New York-based group since their debut, 2015's Jen (Forged Artifacts). The new record is a suite of four songs that synthesize a kind of mid-century Hollywood delirium. It moves from a Motown of the absurd through carnivalesque dream sequences and fragmented string quartets, culminating in a gentle psychosis of tape loops. The sound is a departure from the band's earlier work, discarding tape hiss and jangle for detailed, maximalist orchestration.
