One for soundtracking your exploration of cinematic vistas, and crucial for the fireside of heavily smoked cave ravers. Limbo material through and through from an artist we are excited to support and look forward to their future creations. 

In Caro’s own words: 

“There’s a sort of mystic quality to low places, everything flows there and by law of nature can’t be destroyed, so it is transformed. 
How long it lingers there is different for every thing… pollen swirling in swampy waters, fog coating salty white wash, steam crawling up though the hemlocks. Within a few moments, or a few hours, everythings changed. And it all looks different in the light.” 

Low Lands was produced, arranged and recorded entirely on hardware. Caro is non-binary using they/them pronouns, living and making on unceded and traditional Sinixt Territory.

Building on several contributions to Bristol's forward thinking label Limbo Tapes and appearances at festivals across North America including Mutek, Bass Coast and Active Passive, Birthname (fka Caro) continues to distill their loop-oriented style of storytelling. 

Birthname makes and processes sounds using hardware, computers, batteries and numerous small fuses and wires. A computer is made up of over 30 different minerals which are mined and extracted from the earth. 

They explore various means of communication by layering field recordings, instrumentation, voice and synthesized waveform. There are 7 main types of communication and an estimated 7,000 to 7,100 distinct languages spoken worldwide. 

Birthname's music is both a mirror and a bridge. Merging intimate, inner-life with the current historical, topological and geopolitical landscapes. Like any spiritual practice, it is an exercise in attention. 

On the air regularly since 2018, Caro has hosted and welcomed many guests through radio shows on CJLY (Nelson, BC), B.Side Radio (Vancouver, BC) and online through Noods Radio (Bristol, UK). Their new monthly as Birthname, called Fire Shelter, airs monthly on n.10as out of Montreal, Canada starting September 2025.

Spiral Dance, their most recent LP, was released in 2025 via Limbo Tapes.
