My disadvantage in recording rain is that I have a tin roof, but it sounds like your roof is much more substantial.  Lovely sounds, could easily put me to sleep.

@urlme: Thanks! The WSB100 looks like a great solution- Soundman also make a head-worn windscreen that I've been thinking of getting- they look like earmuffs & will definitely look strange here in Australia. At the moment I wear a beanie which looks very strange during summer (not to mention hot)- but, it's worth it for the sounds...

I think that as we grow & and fall into the repetition of work & routine our perception of the world vignettes and we loose our sense of wonder and amazement- at least, that's my experience.
Recording the sounds around me forces me to listen to my world objectively which I find reveals some of the inherent beauty in life.
