Jukeboxes have fallen out of favor as time and technology marches on, but they still serve as reminders of a different time with respects to music and culture. Berry Bell shares information about jukeboxes and walks us through his collection on this week's show. Young Scientist Spotlight 6: Nancy Padilla

Science is one of the most powerful influences in our lives. The medicines we use, the foods we eat, the technologies we have – they are all products of the scientific process. But many people are disconnected from that process. They see science as something foreign, done in secret labs by strange people. And that’s wrong! Science is an open discussion, and scientists are regular folk who happen to be curious about how things work. But how can scientists show that to the public? 

That’s where Carry the One Radio comes in.

CTOR is a podcast designed to bridge the gap between scientists and the general public. We give scientists a platform to talk about their work, their motivations for being scientists, and what gets them out of bed in the morning. We try to find researchers who are passionate about their work, and who are operating at the edge of their field. That way, listeners get to hear about cool discoveries directly from the researchers (sometimes even before the discoveries are made public). We post 1-2 news episodes each month, along with information about the scientists we interviewed. And because we let the scientists speak directly to the public, listeners get more than sound bites and pretty pictures; they get the whole story.
