Samotek disengages from all emotional apprehension on “Told U So” -  caution to embrace both the light and dark elements, seriousness and playfulness and finally the rooted with the upheaved - has all but been abandoned.

As we drift from entrancing, ritualistic, footwork-fuelled rhythms driving gritty, grime-laden baselines into hauntingly beautiful and spacious atmospheres - “Told U So” sits in imperfect comfort between spiritual intervention and club banger.  

Samotek’s egregious disregard to inhibit his exploration into a rooted, colourful and expansive yet reserved and subtle sound is what resulted in this incredible debut.

“Told U So” is a cautionary tale into unrelenting dedication to explore.

Shield – ‘Copenhagen’

The dane himself delivers his usual blend of trippy basslines, while the swing from the drums keeps the ears busy throughout the whole track. The chords from the intro appears every now and then and gives the track a soulful touch and drive. Quite unorthodox, it all ends with a jazzy solo played on some analogue keys, leaving the listener hungry for more.

@CART-Records is an independent label based in Copenhagen, Denmark. C.A.R.T has grown from a DJ & MC’s collective, who ran a weekly radio show at Christiania Radio, throwing DnB parties in Copenhagen and Vilnius and performing at various events world wide. 

The label was founded in 2013 by Black Daniels as a platform to release music made by the CART family and is managed by both of them.
