Since dropping beats as DJ3 back in '96, James Halon has been on a non-stop musical adventure across the electronic landscape.
From his early days spinning in Dallas to becoming a fixture in San Francisco's warehouse scene with False Profit, James has never been one to stay in a single lane.
He's the guy who's just as comfortable tweaking sound systems as he is commanding the decks, bringing his signature deep, melodic house vibes to crowds across multiple cities.

When he's not making dance floors move, James has been busy creating sonic magic in the studio.
As the co-mastermind behind Cell Culture, The Clockmakers, and DJ Bespoke, he's channeled his production skills into multiple projects while helping fellow artists shine through his work at Cedub Studios.
Whether streaming live sets during lockdown or taking over venues with Digital Cocoon in San Diego, James keeps finding new ways to push his sound forward.

These days, you'll find James in Riverside, where he's created a studio space that feels just right for his creative flow.
Fresh on the scene with Funday & Electrofest, he's bringing decades of know-how to the collective while gearing up to deliver some unforgettable sets in the coming months.

Luum Records proudly unveils “Recognise EP”, a bold and evocative new release from Australian producer Astrek, alongside a couple of remixes by label bosses Doriaan and Üshmüel.

With two original tracks, Astrek delivers a deep and refined sonic statement, exploring the emotional edges of progressive house with cinematic flair and hypnotic drive. The title track, “Recognise”, is a slow-burning journey—subtle yet commanding—built around layered atmospheres, crisp percussion, and a melodic tension that lingers long after the final beat. “Alliance” follows with a darker, more percussive energy, weaving intricate rhythms with brooding textures that pull the listener deeper into Astrek’s immersive soundscape.

On remix duties, label bosses Doriaan and Üshmüel each bring a distinct interpretation. Doriaan's remix of “Recognise” leans into emotive depth and melodic storytelling, offering a dreamlike, introspective rendition perfect for sunrise moments or late-night reflection. Üshmüel, on the other hand, transforms “Alliance” into a hypnotic club weapon—stripped down, rhythm-driven, and primed for peak-time dance floors.

From introspection to intensity, this EP captures the dual nature of LUUM’s sonic ethos: immersive, expressive, and forward-thinking. With each contributor bringing a unique voice to the table, this release is a cohesive yet diverse showcase of where progressive music is headed.

“Music expresses what can not be said, and what it is impossible to keep silent about.” This quotation from the french writer Victor Hugo describes what has always driven Cary Crank: to find a language that is multi-layered enough to express that which moves him. 

Cary knew early on that music was his language. Growing up in Frankfurt, Germany, he witnessed the birth of techno live, and thoroughly immersed himself into its soundscape. An enthusiast of other genres as well, he played the guitar in rock bands, and produced electro pop for various projects. He built his own studio, which he transforms and reinvents time and time again. 

Since turning to Progressive House and Melodic Techno in 2018, he released several tracks and remixes on famous labels like Univack, Mango Alley, Steyoyoke Black, Parquet Recordings, Perspectives Digital, Freegrant Music, Beatfreak Recordings, on his own label Sunexplosion and many more. His releases hit the Beatport Charts on a regular basis. In summer 2024 he had a Beatport Progressive House number one hit and this track was curated as Progressive House track of the year. The energy and analogue vibes in Cary‘s tracks are palpable, as he always travels to the core essence of a sound, and brings emotions to the dancefloor.
