Nascido de um projeto de iniciação musical da escola pública Flaminio Fávero, na zona norte de São Paulo, os Embatucadores são um grupo de percussão na sucata e no corpo. Para esse lançamento, Renato convidou uma série de artistas que fizeram releituras incríveis das musicas originais. Our anniversary VA is different! In partnership with @mcdrecs and curated by @ku_rup, this year we're hosting a compilation of remixes of @embatucadores.

Born of a music initiation project at Flaminio Fávero public school, in São Paulo's northern region, Embatucadores is a scrap and body percussion group. For this release, Renato has invited amazing global artists to remix the original tracks. Starting today, we'll be releasing 6 singles that will culminate in the complete compilation in the end of July, available as name your price in our bandcamp, as well as all streaming platforms by MCD Records. Most part of profits will be redirected back to the project.

003 Skerrabra — Lucid

Ghool(@theghool) is a German with roots from Ghana, member of Ratatam Records (@ratatam-records). Born and raised in Kassel - artistic nature surrounded city located in Germany's heart, now currently living in Aachen - old green border city to Netherlands and Belgium which is a reference in engineering and science.  In addition to his musical production, Ghool also plays in a doom/sludge metal band named Kartoum and studies computer science. 

When we first heard Ntokwa we felt such a distinct energy, we still do. We quickly contacted Ghool and now here is our fifth Freebie series release. Any track that is finalized may be related to a story, or not. The fact is that Ntokwa is a song about urban delirium. This song includes mystic, marshy and menacingly layers. A tremendous strip that spreads beauty and calls, under a cultural aesthetic, a clamor to us and our destructive position towards Mother Earth.

004 Ghool — Ntokwa

We would like to welcome the German mid twenties from Hamburg, Pay Kusten(@paykusten). Newcomer producer, member of the Meeresrausch-Festival crew and part of the very familiar label Sumpfsee Records. He had been engaged in a musical outlook most of his life, Pay was always open to new ventures, clearly set out in this single track "Volongoto".

"Volongoto" comes from an African folk called Baganda. Since its meaning is " unreasonable untidy chaos" Pay has created a track about the chaotic part of producing, about lucky coincidences and the unpredictable ways that it ends up being something new.  We sincerely call you to join us to seek the hidden chaos that might live there.

This first compilation features artists that have been alongside us on our journey so far, as well as new members welcomed in to the Earthly Measures family. Inspired by sounds from all corners of the globe, artists from Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Australia and the UK invite you to experience their homelands through their individual musical styles, keeping to the diverse sounds that Earthly Measures has come to be known for!

Argentina native Janax Pacha brings up the tempo with a more dance floor friendly track. AMA-ZONA has a slow-burning tribal feel which wouldn’t sound out of place at any point of a set, paying homage to the Amazonian rain forest. In his own words “Ama" is to Love - "zona" means Zone - Lets respect and take care of the world's nature by caring for and respecting our Own Nature. Our love zone is the heart just as Amazona is one of the largest hearts of our natural world and planet. The voice of our heart is the voice of nature. Hear it. Respect it. Let it Sing.”

The natural elements shape the music and the visions carried by the voice. Field recordings captured on the island’s journeys and acoustic jams constitute the backbone of the electronic tracks. Memories of waves, wind and volcanoes come back to inspire the lyrics.
Sonographs and hallucinations from the sun’s heat, contemplations from the coast’s outlines, rituals from desert earth’s shades.
