Happy Easter! This is my unedited, imperfect, raw and way too long recording for my first "real" solo-gig since 2019 which took place at the lovely PURPUR-Party from @we-kuyen on friday the  08.04.2022 in the Musikbrauerei Berlin! 

Unfortunately, I did not hit the record button, so this recording should give a little insight how things went on that night! Thanks everybody for showing up, having a good time and dance to my music (and the greeeeat music of the other artists @judith-ahrends @monkymanmusic @lisathaens @marcosmeza - I enjoyed all of them!). Thanks to @we-kuyen for inviting me, you lovely bunch of people <3, thanks to @sahrabass for her steady support :-*

✔️ What are your musical Influences?

Over the last 10 years I have tried out a lot of different things musically. I played in bands for a while (guitar, bass and vocals), produced techno, hip hop and ambient and above all I paid a lot of attention to my own indie and folk songs. Electronic influences have always played a big role.

✔️ What makes a good Afterhour?

For me, a good afterhour is a soft landing. Taking people by the hand and creating the possibility to give them a place where they can slowly come to rest.

✔️ Thoughts about the set and the event you played?

The set was an attempt to combine two sides that I love about dancing in one hour. Both the exuberant bouncing and the dreamy swaying with closed eyes. 
The gig was my most intense performance so far. I always feel the atmosphere and the faces of the people when I hear this set. It was really indescribably beautiful.

>>Wer seid ihr und woher kommt ihr? 
Wir sind Justus und Sina und leben in Berlin.

>>Wie kamt ihr zum Auflegen? 
Ob Aufwärmsound bei Handballspielen, Musik, um die Sonne im Freibad zu genießen, oder der Auswahl der genau richtigen Lieder, bevor eine Autofahrt losgehen kann - Justus war schon immer derjenige, der die Stille gerne mit passender Musik füllen wollte. Als ihn sein bester Freund fragte, warum er eigentlich nicht auflegt, wurden ihm die Augen geöffnet. Er hat sich daraufhin direkt einen Controller bestellt und die zharte Reise fand ihren Ursprung. Sina wurde von ihrem früheren Mitbewohner dazu inspiriert. Einen Monat nach ihrer ersten tief empfundenen Rave-Erfahrung hat er während einer Party in ihrer damaligen Gemeinschaft vorgeschlagen, dass sie vielleicht auch mal spielen sollte und sie direkt dabei unterstützt, einen ersten Track zu spielen. Die damalige Weisheit „wenn's ein Banger ist, juckt der Übergang niemanden“ hat den Einstieg erleichtert, hat sich allerdings mit der Zeit als Trugschluss herausgestellt. 

>>Was hat euch für das Set inspiriert? 
Wir hatten Lust, mal wieder gemeinsam unsere Liebe zu 95 BPM auszudrücken und erfreuen uns sowieso an den mittlerweile wieder wachsenden Überschneidungen unseres Sounds. Die Freude darüber konnten wir bei Justus' WG Party im tiefsten Nebel ausleben. Kommt gerne dazu geschwebt.


>>Was gefällt euch besonders an "langsamer" Musik? 
Mit langsamer Musik verbinden wir viel Attraktives drumherum. Zu Downtempo tanzen geht für uns mit ganz anderen Gefühlen und Zielen einher als zu jeder anderen Musik zu feiern. Durch das verlangsamte Tempo bekommen alle Töne mehr Raum um zu wirken und können so ganz bewusst und gezielt wahrgenommen und betanzt werden. In einer Welt, in der einem alles zu viel und überwältigend sein kann, fühlen sich die kuschligen, warmherzigen und unaufgeregten Räume, die mit Downtempo einhergehen, aus vielen Gründen wertvoll an. Neben den meditativen Zuständen, die wir durch das Tanzen zu langsamen Beats immer wieder betreten dürfen, ist die Downtempo Bubble einfach super wohltuend, achtsam und einfach eine süße Herzenscommunity, in der fühlen und gezieltes reagieren fernab von Hektik und dennoch mit Ekstase ausgelebt werden kann. Außerdem gibt es in der Welt auch einfach schon genügend Schnelligkeit 🙂

Somewhere nestled in the mountains, where the robins song wraps us in stillness, tears of gratitude form new rivers, sounds are carried over oceans within the winds of connection, the morning sun rises and we meet in a pocket. A pocket of paradise and change. A pocket of love and of unbelievably familiar hearts.   

BC it felt more like a returning than a first time visit.  I look forward to the day we re-meet again.

Acid Sunday

Autogenesis is a project initiated by two individuals, both currently living in Berlin - living far away from home for way too long, who decided to investigate contemporary music making and music listening habits in the Global Age. It is a project born out a deep sense of loss and an overwhelming, but not paralyzing, pessimism. Fighting with all sorts of demons, it constantly dodges the pessimism and attempts to secure temporary locations, where creative music projects can coexist with other critical forms of personal and collective expression.

The mix has at least two ambitions: on the one hand, to present a personal collection of various manifestations of alterity, that one could also call ethno-chaos. It is definitely not about harmonizing them or neutralizing their differences, but rather to enunciate and acknowledge the difference. On the other hand, they also wanted to see how these tracks could speak to each other beyond their musical (aesthetic) aspects. Also, many of the tracks in the mix deal with some sort of translation, even if failed or partial ones, they want to make the unknown, more known, and try to do so by presenting one language in terms of another. This goes from the first track by Carmen Miranda (heroically interrupted by Elysia Crampton) to the last track by Violeta Parra, composed during her forced stay in Paris in the 60s, giving the image of long lost and personal Chile.

Music may have no borders, especially when shared in bytes, but many of those making it are still being oppressed by forces that need to be put down, and it is precisely for this that we believe creative productions should not be dehistoricized from the actual structures in which they came to be.
