Bajuband Khul Khul Jaye - Raag Bhairavi - Ustad Fareed Ayaz & Ustad Abu Muhammad[1]

Bahauddin Khan Qawwal (1934-2006), whose party render the qawwali below, traced his lineage back to the days of Amir Khusrau. To remind centuries-yet-to-be that he had loved his murshid, Khusrau banded together twelve youngsters, personally trained them, funded them, and performed with them. He appointed Mian Saamat as the leader of the Bachche (Youngsters) Qawwal. Bahauddin's family claims descent from the Bachche.
The first couplet is by Saʿdī. Abū-Muhammad Muslih al-Dīn bin Abdallāh Shīrāzī, aka Saʿdī Shirazi (Persian: ابومحمد مصلح الدین بن عبدالله شیرازی‎; 1210-1292) was the major classical Persian poet of the middle ages, recognized for the quality of his composition and for the depth of his thought.

گفتم کہ روشن از قمر، گفتا کہ رخسار منست

میں نے پوچھاکہ چاند سے زیادہ روشن کوئی ہے،کہا کہ میرا رخسار
پوچھا کہ شکر سے میٹھی کوئی چیز ہے ،کہا کہ میری گفتگو ہے

I asked what is more beautiful than the moon, replied my cheeks
I asked what is far sweet than sugar, replied my words

گفتم طریق عاشقان، گفتا وفا داری بود
گفتم مکن جورو جفا، گفتا کہ ایں کار منست

پوچھا عاشقی کا طریقہ، کہا وفاداری
کہا کہ ظلم و ستم نہ کرنا ، کہا کہ  میرا کام ہے

I asked what lover may do, replied faithfulness
I asked please don’t be cruel and unfaithful, replied it is my style

گفتم کہ مرگ عاشقان ، گفتا کہ درد ہجر من
گفتم کہ علاج زندگی، گفتا کہ دیدار منست

پوچھا کہ عاشق کیسے مرتے ہیں، کہا کہ میرےفراق میں
پوچھا کہ زندگی کا علاج کیا ہے،کہا کہ میرا دیدار ہے

I asked what is the cruel death, replied the pain of living without me
I asked what is a healthy life, replied gazing at me

گفتم بہاری یا خزاں ، گفتا کہ رشک حسن من
گفتم خجالت کبک را، گفتا کہ رفتار منست

پوچھا کہ بہار اور خزاں ،کہا کی میرے حسن پر رشک
کہا کہ قمر کی شرمندگی ،کہا کہ میری رفتار ہے

I asked what is spring and autumn, replied fragments of my beauty
I asked what makes partridge ashamed, replied my walking style

گفتم کہ حوری یا پری، گفتا کہ من شاہ جہاں
گفتم کہ خسرو ناتواں، گفتا کہ پرستار منست

کہا کہ حور ہے کہ پری،کہا میں سارے جہان کا بادشاہ
پوچھا کہ غریب خسرو،کہا کہ میرا پرستار ہے

I asked what are you poplar or fairy, replied I am lord of beauties
I asked about KHESRO feeble, replied he is my lover

In his Lectures on Aesthetics, Hegel wrote: 

Pantheistic poetry has had, it must be said, a higher and freer development in the Islamic world, especially among the Persians ... The full flowering of Persian poetry comes at the height of its complete transformation in speech and national character, through Mohammedanism ... In later times, poetry of this order [Ferdowsi's epic poetry] had a sequel in love epics of extraordinary tenderness and sweetness; but there followed also a turn toward the didactic, where, with a rich experience of life, the far-traveled Saadi was master before it submerged itself in the depths of the pantheistic mysticism taught and recommended in the extraordinary tales and legendary narrations of the great Jalal-ed-Din Rumi.
