Skye Skjelset and Steve Strohmeier will join Beach House on their upcoming 'Northern Exposure' Tour of Canada later this month and to mark this coming together Bella Union will release a very limited 7″ vinyl featuring a song from each artist. Skye has contributed a 6-minute instrumental jam titled ‘Caul’, while on the other side Steve offers ‘A Light’.

In case you missed the news a few weeks back, Huntleys + Palmers have primed a comp featuring Wolf Muller, Sano, Usio and Oklo Gabon for their 15th release. A record that aims to draw from talents beyond their regular (and exceptional) pool of talents. The folks who have really been getting them excited recently. 

This track comes to you courtesy of Golden Teacher, who H+P hail as "the best band to come from Glasgow in years!", and we could be inclined to agree to be honest.

"I did one last disco song"

This track was written with a specific instrument in mind: the unmistakable voice of Shamir Bailey, who recently traded glimmering disco-pop ballads for a new brand of soul-searching lo-fi. A duet with House of Feelings bandleader Matty Fasano, who contributed sax on Shamir’s 2015 debut Ratchet, the song appears to bookend a certain phase of Shamir’s musical life (the above quote was tweeted by Shamir when we announced the track's existence). That bittersweet, maybe-an-ending, maybe-a-beginning feeling is manifest in the series of repeated, unanswered questions that make up the lyrics. "Who's gonna change the motion / when you're standing right by my side?"

House of Feelings is an NYC based collective helmed by Matty Fasano and featuring a bevy of talent from the basements and bedroom studios of the New York underground. While being best known for creating deeply immersive live psychoacoustic experiences, the London based Pataphysical have allowed us to use 'Periphera', the fruits of their debut studio work, as the label's eighth musical oblation. It would have been an excercise in futility to try and replicate the immediacy of their live performances on this record, but we feel that across these 8 disparate tracks inner worlds have been rendered real. Through the careful positioning of field recordings and the creation of soundscapes somewhat reminiscent of heyday Mille Plateau the group have held fast to a desire to craft involved and captivating synthesis.
