 “Backyard” captivates you from the very first second: a throbbing bassline sets the tone, entangled by a melody that manages to sound both warm and analogue as well as inapproachably cool and sexy; that evokes memories of early eighties Hip-Hop and old computer games while embodying electro of the most progressive sort. Guest singer David Manning, like Monte from the Baalsaal / JEUDI Records camp, rounds up the whole affair by adding warm vocals about love in our emotionally cold times: “Stone cold love in the backyard“. 
“That statement reflects 90% of today’s generation”, assures Monte. “Everyone’s connected, postings here and selfies there, but there’s no real connection. Even when you sit at the same table with people, conversations are monosyllabic and everyone instantly pulls out their smartphone. It’s pretty much impossible to really get through to a person these days”, says Monte, musing: “We’re on the wrong track, moving apart instead of towards one another”.
Human relations in the age of social media –  a topic otherwise researched in complex academic studies is delivered by Monte in a single, emotionally and atmospherically dense song.

This edit has been sitting on our hard drive for over 3 years. We included it on a mix we did for Throne Of Blood in the Winter of 2013 and since then friends and DJ's have asked us about it.  We always intended to put this out. Now, it's finally here.

What can we say about Tom Ze other than, "We love Tom Ze!"?  Most anything we could tell you about the man you could either easily look up your self via the Information Super Highway, or experience  by immersing your ears in the wonderful sounds of his catalog (which we strongly urge you to do if you haven't already).  If your already familiar with his work hopefully the  twist we added brings you a new appreciation and love, and if this is entirely new to you....lucky you!

The ever excellent MOTHER RECORDINGS serves up more club gold, this time from MARTIN WASLEWSKI. His CLOSER release features two tight tacks that prove he has a lush sense of house groove.
Waslewski is a German who grew up on hip hop and now having turned to house finds himself at home under the roof of labels such as Hommage, Monaberry and Heulsuse. All these playgrounds offer him a deserved platform where he never fails to come up with the goods, as is the case again here.

Up first here is CLOSER, six minutes of deep, feel good house music with romantic vocals and colourful chords. The beats are lazy and well swung and this one is perfect for summer parties and terraces this year. On the flip, COME TO ME is stripped back and more driving, with a tech edge to the beats. There is more great melody though, and some smeared synths that add a sense of scale and weight.
