Produced at the recording space of beloved Bristol venue The Louisiana with Alfie-Tyson Browne (Langkamer, Katy J Pearson and Saloon Dion), the track zones in on an anonymous free-spirited protagonist wandering in the Welsh countryside, as the band’s lead vocalist/guitarist ‘Smudge’ explains:

“This song is the colours you see in an altered state and about the experience of that particular journey. I wrote this because I watched a video of this Welsh guy probably near to where I’m from. He basically walked his dog up a hill and took some mushrooms from the surrounding field and it looked like he was having a good time. ‘Magic Hill” is now for him.”

‘June’ is about the conflicting emotions of seeking solitude amidst darkness whilst simultaneously craving authentic connection.

It’s shaped by me growing up in Lithuania, surrounded by experimental rock and underground electronic music, and the evocative tradition of sung poetry.

The new single from Catford Gyrations will be released on 28th June 2024, and includes the first brand new material since last year's eponymous debut album.

This 2 track single is available to stream across all major platforms, and can also be downloaded via Bandcamp.

The space age electronic pop of "Land of 1000 presets" draws heavily from charity shop curios of yesteryear. Despite it's apparent analogue facade, it's an ode to how modern technology has provided access a vast library of virtual instruments that would have previously been unaffordable and taken up far too much room in my house. The track doesn't actually contain 1000 presets. It's probably more like a dozen or so, and I may have fiddled with some of the parameters.

From the new album "Internal Noise", released 15.5.24 on hand-numbered, coloured vinyl and across digital platforms via Austerity Records.

The album was recorded at Bella Union's Brighton studio and produced by Jack Wolter. It features the vocal harmonies of Jack and Lily Wolter, both from the band Penelope Isles, while Jack also drums on the record.
