Following a short hiatus after completing tours with Lana Del Ray, KT Tunstall and Birdy, plus a solo sold out UK tour; 24-year-old, London based Billy Lockett releases a striking first single ‘Wide Eyed’ from his forthcoming debut album.
 
'Wide Eyed’ follows on from Billy’s self-released EP ‘Burn It Down’ earlier this year which amassed over 400,000 streams, and which was preceded by a spot on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing playlist after huge support locally from BBC Introducing Northampton; Billy’s hometown.
 
On the first single from the album Billy says that “Wide Eyed is the last song I wrote for the album. It's a song that is about putting the past behind you and trying to move on, knowing that you'll end up back where you started."
 
Inspired by love and loss, Billy’s new album material is heart wrenchingly honest and wise beyond its years.

Cinematic Concepts is a collection of thoughts, memories and ideas inspired by story and aimed towards the accompanying of moving picture or video game works. Each piece tells its own story while also being able to enrich an already existing story or idea, enhancing the audience or gamer's experience.

The Crooked King

A rough recording of a piece I composed for a short film.

Kerensa (Live Session)

As explained by the title, this piece was very much focussed around field recordings of water, specifically the sea. As a group, we decided to base it around mythical stories and poems of sailors being tempted overboard by Sirens. We took a few verses from the poem The Lorelei (translated from German) by Heinrich Heine and composed an original melody for it. We then concentrated on processing live vocals and instruments such as Violin and Clarinet through the software to surround this. Our aim was to create a sense of submersion and unease in the listener.

Defenders Of Skyhold

This is my submission to Tahlia’s composition game Theme & Isolations where you use themes written by other people to create a piece of music.

I took the first half of the second theme and turned it into an ostinato and played the first theme over the top of it.

The result is something quite generic and sounds like it's coming to a music library near you.

But hey I'm first!
