CIA Deepkut returns with a new EP, from a name new to Drum and Bass, Adred. 
Four tracks filled with textures, rhythms and feelings, Adred has alongside co-writers Robert Manos, TRAC and Lystone, put together a body of work that shows a versatility and understanding of what makes for music with longevity and character. 
The title track is an organic beat featuring well-known and respected vocalist Robert Manos. Utilising parts of the vocal takes that others would have discarded, live drums and a free flowing arrangement, ‘300 Pages’ weaves through the Brooklyn streets, taking you with it. 
‘Into The Storm’ features Lystone, the track showcasing a strong link between producer and vocalist. A straighter more robotic beat, held together with thinned out vocals, amen edits and analogue pads, makes for an altogether deep meditative track.
‘Drones’ steps out tough yet deep, with an eerie vocal from rapper TRAC telling us what we all know to be the truth. Atmospheres wrap it all together, with a powerful pulsing mid bassline pulling the listener in every direction. 
Rounding up proceedings is ‘Red Night’. The excellent vocals tie together the pairs US hip-hop influences, along with a classic break, sonar style atmospheres and hypnotic keys. Drawing you deeper, Lystone’s lyrical flow and prowess really shines on this track, with the backing track dragging you in. 
An EP of various flavours and feelings, it’s a great start to Adred’s discography and one that CIA is proud to present.

The title cut busts and blasts its way into existence, strange samples leading the way. Insistent, futuristic beats slide over the top, setting you up for something big. The track moves through a range of levels, as the producers open up more and more, accessing new sounds and emotions. This is serious, cutting edge music, and a fantastic start to the EP. 

The Germ follows suit, with deep bass already obvious in the intro, before all hell breaks loose at the drop. Twisted, twisting samples and effects pour themselves in and out of the mix, as a haunting melody line turns and shifts, rising and falling. Shining and shimmering, don’t lose the real meaning of this one - it’s a killer.
Infiltrating is the first track on Side B. This one builds up, levelling out with some explosive beats and equally enticing low end. 

Let the infection take over your being, as Dean Rodell and Current Value take
￼￼things to the next level. And closing things out is the Machine Code remix of Artificial Organism by Homeboy. Here, the track opens with electronic flashes, a ticking beat and a steady sense of anticipation. This is paid off by a fantastic drop, after which the true genius of the remix is slowly uncovered, via a spine chilling breakdown and rebuild.

Not for the faint-hearted, Projection is serious. A must-have.

The Blackout train has well and truly left the station already in 2017, and with the year’s debut single from Black Sun Empire featuring collaborations with Noisia and Pythius the momentum that is being gathered so early is bordering on frightening.

BSE have delivered another beautifully constructed single that blends the tough sound fans are used to with Noisia’s brains and Pythius’ brawn. ‘Modulation’ is a single which once again demonstrates why The Prophecy has been gaining traction within their genre. Its construction points at how meticulous their production standard is, with carefully layered beat patterns and a heavyweight bassline which adds to the track’s heavier elements. The track begins to build steadily on light percussion, before its breakdown drops into segments of pumping distortion. Each flurry of beats pushes the track further and further onto the dancefloor, a sure-fire record which will rattle club speakers from Slovakia to the UK. It sets a precedent for the duo, epitomising a level of sonic manufacturing often not seen within artists just at the beginning stages of their career.
