The spacecraft burst into the galaxy in a flash of light, exiting the lanes of hyperspace with the grandeur that intergalactic travel of that sort demanded. Made of advanced neometal alloys, its hull seemed to shimmer and glisten with an iridescent glow that warped and refracted the light of nearby stars around the craft. To the naked eye it appeared as though a mirage, and even the advanced sensors of many spacefaring empires would have trouble locating its exact position amidst the surrounding chromatic milieu.

Hailing from uncertain origins, its appearance was spoken of in hushed tones within the war rooms of this galaxy’s nations, for it was not known to be either friend or foe and bore no identifying insignia to mark its place of construction. The subspace pace it proceeded at was not rushed but yet bore a certain urgency, as though the ship stalked some unknown quarry from afar. No hails had been returned and no attempts to scan its interior had borne fruit, and thus on the planets below populations watched with anxious awe as it continued on whilst praying that it did not take specific notice of their lives. Thus it was that what could only be called the STARSHIP entered into galactic knowledge, and none yet knew where its course might lead.

DESPERSION debuts his devious first EATBRAIN release with the STARSHIP EP, which brings the label’s horde to intergalactic heights across the three tracks contained within. A rising star form Russia, DESPERSION’s prior releases have landed on labels including SLK Records, Empire Recordings, and Neuropunk Recordings, the latter being the imprint label of Eatbrain regulars Gydra & Teddy Killerz. Channeling the sonic energy gathered from these prior experiences, the STARSHIP EP shoots by at breakneck speed, overflowing with sci-fi textures and devastating bassline bombardments that follow the trend set by its name.

"Insanity" is a perfect example of the dark and minimal approach that defines this release. Dialective focuses on a sinister atmosphere, with haunting pads and stabs leading into a drop that’s full of intricate percussion and sub-bass pressure. The tension in this track is palpable, making it a standout.

Instinkt comes through with the heavy funked out roller "Payback" The track rides on a brutal bassline and punchy drum hits, staying true to the gritty, tech-driven vibe of the compilation. The energy is undeniable, with cleverly placed switches and detailed soundscapes keeping it fresh throughout.

 ‘Bypass’ makes its chaotic intentions clear from the start - utilizing a pleasingly forboding melody and carefully layered effects, SOM raises the pressure to it’s maximum level as they unleash a dirty pulsating bassline atop clamorous upfront drums.

 Closing out Full Force EP comes a collaboration for the ages - State of Mind with Budapest dons Jade and Mindscape. The product is a track worthy of the trio. No-nonsense sci-fi synth melodies and slick, uplifting arpeggios transport ‘Know Your Place’ into the distant future before SOM, Jade, and Mindscape bring things back with a dirty, earthy reece which ricochets upon towering sub bass and tactile, concussive drums. Each producer leaves their mark on the track, which is equal parts seduction, ruthlessness, and funk. This trifecta makes ‘Know Your Place’ an authentic blueprint for dancefloor annihilation.

"When Dawn Breaks" is a testament to RIFT's potential and a promising addition to the drum and bass landscape. Its fusion of funk influences with the cold roller style offers a refreshing take on the genre. As RIFT continues to refine his sound, tracks like this position him as an artist to watch in the coming years.

A single moment passed in silence before the view of silicone eyes, underneath which a mechanical being partook in an organic substance, taking a drag of her cigarette there within that soundless void. Though it did not produce the same biological reaction in her as it did in humans, the action possessed a certain juneau sais quoi, an attitude that she delighted in performing even at a moment like this. With her inhale, she briefly considered disabling her pain sensors. With her exhale, she clung to the humanity they brought her. Instead, she chose to fire her left tear duct, letting a single bead of moisture hang like fresh dew at the corner of her eye. Would they find her and reassemble her? She wondered at the thought, but hoped not. The city before her had been her world, and now before her it disappeared.

The shockwave tore through her body in an instant, traveling at a speed not slowed even by the durable alloys of which her skeleton was composed. She felt wire after wire detach, disconnecting the circuits that fed information to the high speed processor that served as her brain. There went her hair, her right leg, her ring finger and the ring it bore. In the instant that she was dismantled by the blast she pondered how the humans felt at this exact moment, or if their brains were too slow to process what was occurring to them. Her skull detached from her faceplate, and with the remaining voltage her brain experienced one final thought. “So this is what it feels like to die”.

EATBRAIN powerhouse MNDSCP debuts his latest work on the label with his SLICER EP, a name that portends well to the expertly honed sonics that lie within. Following his previous EP “Plot Hole” on the label, MNDSCP continues to augment the EATBRAIN horde with an array of sonic cybernetic enhancements, all powered by the mind of the machine behind SLICER.
